Thinking of getting a California T

Just read through the threads and you'll learn all you need to know about people's experience with the Cali T. By all accounts the car is an overwhelming success. Many owners and buyers have posted their build spec which lists options selected. I traded my Aston Martin Virage and ordered a Cali T in Nero Daytona Metallic over Cuoio. I'm expecting the delivery sometime in June - I hope. Good luck.

 

i purchased a slightly used '14 cali 6 months ago (not a cali-t).
i test drove many vehicles prior, including the r8 v10.
the r8 has a heavier "feel" than the cali.
it is not as fast and the interior is more claustrophobic, IMHO.

 

ride comfort is nice in both vehicles.
but i drove the audi only a few miles, primarily on smooth surfaces.
if you get a cali, make sure it has the magneride suspension!

 

I currently own a '12 Cali, had a '10 Cali that I put almost 30,000 miles on in less than two years. The '12 has 26,000 miles and a couple weeks ago I ordered a new T. The Cali is great fun, a wonderful car. I drove the first Cali all year in NW Ohio, in snow etc. with SottoZero tires, a perfect winter car ! After driving the T a few months ago the extra power is well noticeable. Not quite up to my FF but still really great. And the ride is plenty good enough for daily driving or cross country driving if you leave it in the Comfort Mode and are wise enough to get the magneride shocks!!!

 

One's an Audi and the other is a Ferrari! 'Nuff said, I know which I'd rather have on my drive. Stop thinking and do it

 

Both cars pull into a nice restaurant with valet parking. Both cars valet park. Which car do think get the spot up front? Audi's are nice but they will NEVER be close to Ferraris.

 

The Audi is a great car. I think the difference is in where they start from. Most high end mass production cars start as a passenger car and are engineered into sports car. Ferrari starts as a race car and is engineered down to street legal. The California is the bridge from a track car to a daily driver while maintaining its racing roots. The options sort of illustrate this, ceramic brakes come standard and the backup camera is extra. The bad news is that the Ferrari is more low tech, for example the info screen is from the last decade. But the automobile engineering is cutting edge. Such low production means costs are higher per unit. Be prepared to spend $250-300k. That is what rare rolling art costs these days.

You really drive a lot, didn't you put something like 40k miles on your 2012 FF at the same time you put over 50k miles on Californias in these 5 years?

 

When you're in the T, the driving experience is fantastic and I don't think you'd really care if the radio head was sourced from a WWII Jeep!

 

i am referring to the radio head/gps system in my '14 cali (not the "T").
