Have a iMac w/OSX and it is great (also use a PC for certain applications). Thinking of getting the Apple 12" Powerbook and was wondering if anyone had one, and any opinions. It will also be used as a desktop replacement attached to a 19" LCD, keyboard/mouse. Thanks.

I have the 12" and it's great. Nice and light to carry around, and powerful enough to do some heavy graphics stuff.

My only problem is that using it day in day out for 18 months, I've developed carpal tunnel syndrome from the flat keyboard. Get a regular curved one for home use is my suggestion, and you'll be just fine.

Ryan--I don't play in the Mac world but does a Microsoft Natural-type keyboard exist for Macs? No carpal tunnel for me since I've been using this keyboard for 4 years. If it does, I love that 12" machine and could be tempted to join the dark side. An aquaintance in the film business has a 17" and it's fantastic.

At work, I'm stuck in the Windows land.

I know 4 people with them that love them. It will be my next laptop most likely.

For home use I think a normal keyboard that works wireless with a little USB plug is great for laptops. You can get a Logitech for about $30.

12" is my current lap-top. I had midium size screen, but traded for 12", and have no regret. My praise for 12" is just what ryalex said. I also have G5 desk top, too. All major works can be done w/ desktop while I use lap top for around the house, on the road, etc.

Have had the 15 and 17 but not the 12. I love Powerbooks. Mine have been super reliable and easy to work with.

My Wireless MS Natural Multimedia Keyboard works for my mac. Didnt even have to install drivers. The media buttons work, the documents, pictures, music buttons work, mail etc. Calcutor works and I have changed my sleep button to my eject button. Works like a charm

I love it here. All you mac users and no PC Loving anti mac twirps that spout off about compatibility or games.

But I guess those with an appreciation for finer things can understand. =)

    Great news! Thanks!

Speaking of which--what about games? I don't play any games on my PC as it is, but the boy does.

Most of the new titles come out for both PC and Mac. Unreal 2k4, all the tom clancy titles, etc.

    Counter-Strike doesnt though.

    Halo plays QUITE well.

I have two 15 inchers (boy, I wish that was an anatomic statement). Both have worked flawlessly, including one that has been dropped, and now has a cracked case, slightly bent display, etc. Already contemplating my next Powerbook.

I have a boat load of 'em. I even based a product (full in-flight Disk drive recorder using my company's airborne RAID for rugged applications, see www.cannonaerospace.com ) around the powerbook G4.

Solid platform and a solid operating environment.

Infact, I am typing this on a powerbook attached to a 24" monitor at 1920x1080.

I have a 12", and it's great. I would recomend the 15 or 17 inch, but since you are attaching it to a moniter, you should be fine.

Also, I don't think you can connect monitors into the 12". Mine doesn't have that slot, but my dad's 17" does. I don't think the 12 has room to put the slot in. You might want to check and see if they changed that on the newer models.
