My current Ferrari is 78 308 gts & I love the car but I love the modern look of the 348. The prices on the 348 are so attractive also. If any one out there can give me some info on the 91 348ts I would greatly appreciate it. I know there must be a world of difference between the two models, but I still want to know what everyone thinks.

You will find for the most part 348 owners are very positive and enthusiastic on this board. We feel the knocks people have on the 348 are generally not justified. I think the prices are very attractive for the car and bought mine (an 89) about a year ago. They definitely look better in person. Handling is great below about 120 mph in the stock form, and with spacers it is much more stable at highre speeds. Reliability is good for a Ferrari. The maintenance is a little heavy (about $2k more than a 328/308 every five years). To me it is worth the extra dollars to have a more modern car, although I really like the look of the 308 / 328 series. Fortunately there are quite a few low mileage 348 that are available. It is rare to find one for sale with over 50,000 miles (which would only average out to about 3-5k miles per year. Most cars for sale seem to have between 20-30k miles. There is a small percentage of cars for sale at any given time which tells me that most people are content to keep their 348.

Chris, ive got a 91 348TS blu/tan with 40K miles and i love it, for the money i dont think you can make a better choice, the car still drives like new and is very dependable, having a good mechanic makes all the difference, we have a secret weapon here in southern cal named Eugenio, actually my 348 belongs to Eugenio, he just lets me borrow it when he doesnt want it in the shop LOL

My friend has a 348 spider and he loves it. I like the spiders but I love the ts. The looks are so modern that you hardly tell its age IMHO. The 308's are classic but to me next to a 348 they look old. I don't know what to do, I'm also considering the 456gt because of the back seats ( baby)-HAHA. I think I want to stay with the rear engine though. I'm going to look at one tomorrow night, its silver with 21,900 miles. The dealer has all records and has been servicing the car, so it looks good and its ready to go. They have to take my 308 on trade, we'll see what they give me.

Stick with rear engine 2 seater unless you use for daily driver!

I recently traded my '83 308 for a 348. Huge difference. Not to say the 308 had some enduring qualities, but the 348 is much more modern, much more user friendly. I don't think you will be sorry.

Leapfrog the 348 and move up to the 328... ;)

On a more serious note, subscribe here and list your 308. I think you'd do better selling it on F-Chat (FerrariAds link above) than trading it or consigning. Just my two cents.

Good luck - 348's are gorgeous.

Yessss...come to the dark side. I was hunting for late 91 amd 92 348s and have a 94 Spider now. One rule - if it is not documented do not touch it.

    Moving from a 308 to a 348 is a wonderful thing...highly recommended.

I've got over 58k miles on my 89 348ts, and I'm very happy with the reliability of the car. Fairly easy to work on considering its Italian heritage (3 parts for every one part needed). Nobody but another Ferrari owner can tell you how old it is. A true hot rod-not much extraneous bs. REALLY fun to drive. Doesn't like sitting in the garage. That's where it will break. GO FOR IT

The 348 comes highly recommended me. I love mine and just drove to Las Vegas and back (to LA). Comfortable ride, Fast (enough), just an all around good car. Just make sure you find a well sorted model. Don't buy someone elses problem :)

Wait a minute, I'll sell you mine......Are 360's at a hundred grand? Let me do a search.

Nope, I am keeping it. And probably gonna add the 360(hopefully soon)
I have room for 1 more car in the garage :)

Don't do it! The 308 is the most beautiful car. Unless you are going to track the car or live in Germany, you're not going to be able to enjoy the 348s extra power (unless you risk getting your license revoked). But, if you like the more modern look, that's all about taste. Personally, I prefer the 308s to the 348 and even the 328s based on styling alone. I like the US bumpers. That's the way I first saw a Ferrari and that's what I always wanted. I like the togle switches vs. buttons too.

No doubt, 348 is faster and more modern...and like Bill said, more expensive. While I wouldn't mind owning a 348 (especially Spider), I would never trade my 308 for one. But again, that's my taste and the 308 was a dream come true.

I would also love to get a 412 with manual transmission. My wife gives me a little grief for going out in the 308 and not being able to take her and the baby. If I ever come across a prestine 412 at a good price, it will be hard to resist.

Anyway, sorry to get off topic...again, I prefer the 308. Just depends on what you want. Both Ferraris, so both great.

Did you see the 365 GTC/4 that was asked about in a thread last week? It is pretty nice and the ask is around $27k. I read that the owner has had it for a long time so they may be willing to deal on the price. But, with new babies, comes new costs. Since you have a new baby, maybe now is not the time? Getting any sleep yet?

It is listed on their site at $34k I think but the thread said they were looking for $27k.
