I would say the microbus gets more attention than the 308. You can see the VW, where the 308 disappears behind most cars. :)

That microbus is in incredible condition. Very nice.

I was never really a big VW fan either. Then a couple friends had them and I just started looking. I found this one 5 years ago in Everett. I spent about a year getting it the way I wanted. My wife was in charge of the interior and I did the engine and suspension. I really like cruising in the Bus. It really does get more attention then the 308 and I love getting the peace sign, unlike the occasional middle finger I get in the Ferrari.

Well, I don't know how we got from a 77 308 to a '60s VW Bus, but I sure like the bus photos. It brings back great memories. I spent many hours of my early childhood with a VW bus. We traveled all over Europe and Scandinavia with our VW. I remember ferry rides to various countries and we could sit at that table in the bus and have lunch, then my younger siblings would take a nap in the "way back". My parents could just leave them in the bus. Times have changed, that's for sure. In the bus we had, you set the table down and you would have a sleeping platform that you then would put the cushions over and voila, the whole family could crash. Or actually, I think it was just the kids crashing, my parents would put us all to sleep and then they went out and partied. Cheaper than a baby sitter...

And speaking of crashes, Mom was driving it one day and a Great Dane ran out in front of the bus. She hit it and knocked it over. Then it got up and ran off. She was pretty freaked out and she found the owner and the dog and the dog was fine. Bus sustained a bit of a dent. We ultimately sold it for a few hundred pounds before we moved back to the US. Interesting to see that they are now a collector's item.

No heat in those old VW microbuses though! I went on many trips to ski hills in those as a kid and to stay warm we wore ALL our ski gear on the bus for the entire drive to the ski hill!

Your so right about no heat Mark, air cooled engines are designed to dissipate the heat. I had an old VW bug and also a 76 Porsche 911. I also had a 914 that I took skiing a lot; Hats and gloves the whole way. Thank god for peppermint schnapps.

    You can never overdress!

Keep the hippy bus and sell the 308. Was probably the wrong car for you in the first place. It's obvious if you even had to ask.

No denying that the bus ain't groovy and all that. But GMAFB!

    Pease out!

Wow, that's a little harsh. May be a grain of truth to it but it's still kinda harsh.

    Sorry

The 308 will be fine in the gorge, some great back roads up there. Use the bus for surfing and the 308 for some back road twisty fun! You will be glad you kept it!

    Cheers!

Selling my 308 would have been the biggest mistake I ever made!
These cars are meant to be driven; not sold! It will soon be driving time in the gorge and Im ready. We have a new track in my area and plan on scheduling a track day. The wife has been understanding during the transitional moving period, so it's a win - win for me. We love the area and it needs another Ferrari in the mix.
