I have had Corvettes since i was 23 (I am now 31). I lusted after one my whole childhood. First i bought a POS 1984 on ebay, fixed it up drove it hard and sold it for a small profit and bought a 1991 Convertable, drove that, sold it at a breakeven, bought a 1999 coupe, sold that and got a 2001 Z06 and then added a 1993 Ruby Red Anniversary coupe at the same time. Sold them both for profit a little over 2 years ago and bought a new 2007 Velocity Yellow MN6 Convertable.

My point is I love corvettes. I have moved up in them over the years and achieved my childhood dream of owning a new convertible. The car has been perfect, no issues and tons of fun. My other childhood dream was to someday get an Italian sportscar and I loved Maserati's and Ferraris.

The current Maserati market is in shambles, resales are TERRIBLE (Not that the late model vette market is any better) but anyway i have been thinking of selling my Vette and buying a 2004 Maserati Spyder that I have my eye on. I think i can actually do that and still come out with 5-8k in my pocket at the end of the sell and buy. I really love these cars as they have a timeless design, the interiors are simply stunning and that Ferrari V8 is musical in nature

My wife thinks i will regret this and has told me that if i want to do it then i should sell her car which is a 1998 E320, give her my 2004 E320 and keep the vette and add the Maserati. The problem there is that then i have to tap into cash reserves to buy the Maserati and who really needs two sports cars

Does anyone here have any experience with the 2002-2006 Maserati Coupes and Spyders?? Am i nuts for thinking I will get the same level of enjoyment out of the Maserati as i have out of my corvettes or do you think it might be fun to move into a different automotive chapter so to speak.

I would be interested to hear the opinions fellow owners. I have mixed feelings on it and am just looking for some candid feedback.

    Thanks,
    Robert

Your wife is encouraging you to have two sports cars?!?!
Do you realize you are the luckiest man on the planet? The right answer to your question is to keep the Vette and get the Maser, especially for those days that the Maser decides to break down, but you want something a little more sporty than the E-class. Of course no one NEEDS two sports cars per se, but if the wife condones it, why not.

A Maserati is very different from any Corvette. I've had lots of seat time in Corvettes and own both a Maserati and a Ferrari. The craftsmanship is much better in the Italian cars. I've found the Maserati interior to be pretty nice. As far as driving the Maserati it feels much smaller than the Corvette, and therefore it feels more like an extension of the driver. The Ferrari is even more like this, although its not for you if you want to make money or break even. They are expensive any way you look at it.
You didn't really say if you wanted your cars to be seen or because you like to drive. It's hard to be seen in a Corvette around Atlanta because there are 6 of them at every light. Right in between the 6 911's.
The driving experience in either a Maserati or Ferrari is a one of a kind event. Go drive one and you will see. Be prepared to be disappointed with the drive home in the Corvette though.

I actually live on Lake Norman, just north of Charlotte NC now. My Corvette is now more of a rarity than it was in ATL but I don't really care about that anyway.

I have put the car up for sale on the corvette forum tonight to test the waters at what i think is a reasonable price

    http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-corvettes-sale/2178696-f-s-2007-velocity-yellow-mn6-convertible-mint-39-9k-firm-nc.html#post1567780027

I want the car for me and to drive it not just be seen in it. I love to drive and i really like Maserati's. I was in Maranello last year and my wife and I went to the Panini garage just outside of town and looked at his collection, they are something else. This would be just an extension of pride in my Italian hertiage and love for cars. I have gotten past the stage where i need to showboat, it would be strictly for me to enjoy.

I am torn about this as my vette is a blast to drive. I have never had an issue with it and it is just a beautiful car and is a lot of fun at a VERY low cost of ownership. I understand I will sacrifice this a bit with the maserati but it will just be a pleasure car and even on the weekends at least for 8 months out of the year i spend them on my boat not in a car like i did in Atlanta

Thank you for your opinions, please keep them coming

imagine if you will, Maserati decides there is not enough Hp in their car so they contact GM to contract them to produce engines for their auto's...............
    second senareo,
Gm finally understands the materials used on the interiors of their corvette is junk, their styling is out dated and contacts Maserati to redesign the interior and the exterior to look like the Maserati GranTurismo S.

    bingo we have a Veanner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ps. +1 for the Maserati GranTurismo S

I used to own a '05 C6 Z51 MN6 DSOM coupe. It was a great car and I was very impressed with a lot of its features. However, I had an opportunity to drive my friend's 2003 Maserati Spyder with a manual. Even though the two cars are similar on paper, the driving experience was very different. The Maserati felt better, sounded better, and was overall a more entertaining drive.

I no longer own the C6 (for one thing I have gone to grad school), but if at least a few banks are still around next year and I can find a job, I will be in the market for a Maserati coupe.

So I think you should get a Maserati. Although, one nice thing about Corvettes is the liquid used car market, something Maserati seems to be lacking.

While recently shopping for my 2007 C6 Coupe 1LT with the MX0 6-speed automatic, I came across a large number of convertibles with 6-speed manuals. $39,000 is a decent price especially for a 2LT. Most of the vettes had been for sale for about 2 or more weeks. But if you're patient, you'll get the money you are looking for.

I don't why you would want to sell such a nice car, but then again I've only owned my C6 for about a week.

Robert i glanced at your ad you posted. You mentioned it would be nice to have the back seat in the Masi Spyder. There is only a back seat in the coupe.

Masers are ok but I'd never trade in my C6 Z06 for any Maser, unless it was an MC12 :)

Masers do have much nicer interiors

but power, speed, reliability, parts and maintenance bills are all in the Vettes favor

Your wife suggestion is the way to go...

Keep the vette and get the Maserati.

You should look at a Merak! Drive an SS if you can find one. But, of course I'm biased.....you probably knew that already!

Had some time with a Maser Spyder, loved it, very connected feeling as with most Italian cars, not as refined and cowl shake compared to lets say a c6 or 997cab, but definately more fun.
