I have a 1995 Ferrari 456GT with a six-speed manual gearbox. I'm vaguely thinking about selling and would be curious for input from the group on a fair asking price. [IMG]You see a lot of asking prices, but I don't have a sense what cars are actually trading for.

The car just hit 20,000 miles. Yellow on black. Excellent condition. Window gaps addressed (F1 Motorsports). All belts last fall, all hoses just done last month. New tires on original wheels. New rear shock accumulators last fall. Cooling system just serviced. HVAC control panel redone by stickynomore, along with several other interior bits. I have nearly complete maintenance records, except that I have only partial records from one prior owner. Full luggage and original tools, etc. I only have one key, but otherwise nothing is missing. Beautiful car in great condition.

I am not asking you for offers as I have not decided to sell at this point. But I am curious what folks think would be a fair ask in the current market.

In europe I think such a car would go for around 75k euro maybe 80k euro because it has the original luggage and tools. Its color is different, so you have to find someone that likes that, but it seems perfectly maintained with lowish miles (for europe at least as we drive our cars over here haha).

    Hope that helps.

EDI: if it was a modificato it would be worth maybe 15k more.

Interesting that the M is worth so much more...I prefer the GT's fascia and added interior room for taller drivers.

@OP: I think you'll find these cars will appreciate in the future, like the 550s just did in the last 24 months. V12 and manual is a rare combination these days. That says, my opinion is that yours will command top dollar due to maintenance and completeness. I suspect close to $100k would not be amiss. Good luck if you decide to sell!

Agreed, around $90k - $100k should be feasible. Best of luck to OP with the sale of his car!

    Just fyi:
The Modificato is more expensive because it was the last version with various improvements implemented, but the main reason for the higher price is the fact that there are a lot less of the manual Modificato made then the "regular" 456 manual.

I have your exact car but in blue. Put it up for sale, but changed my mind 24 hours later. Might trade for $+ for a 550 , but otherwise its a keeper. I love the front end and deployable spoiler on the 456 rather than the M,6 speed of course.

In the US, there are very few public sales from which to derive an accurate picture. I have seen no evidence to support this prediction. Depending on the color combo, options, and PPI, a mint, sub 10K mile, manual M might come close. But I do not believe any 456 will bring six figures in the current US market.

So even harder to see a manual transmission boosting a 95 with over 20K to nearly twice the current average.

But it's frequently stated, you can't pay too much, you can only buy too early....

A 456 Auto sold for 46k USD 2 days ago on Bring a trailer. So that is 50k USD including the premium.

The car had higher miles was an auto but well maintained.

Work your way up from that price to establish the ball park figure.

I am not an expert but I came to realize that an asking price is just that....

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. I do think the market for automatic transmission cars is very different from that for manual cars, but it's hard to say how different. Regardless, I appreciate the feedback.

I recently purchased a low mileage 456M in Europe albeit, so im speculating based on that knowledge...I have little information on US market but 1 thing I know for sure is that automatics and manual 456s are 2 completely differen markets.

Best of luck to OP. Somewhere I hope you dont sell it, as I think its a great car in an unusual color!

    Uberlink,

That is a special 456 GT for sure.

    Love the yellow exterior color.
Is the interior all black or black with yellow stitching perhaps?
You should post a few interior pictures for us to see.
And, a picture of the luggage would be good too.

I've always thought the 456 was one of the most beautiful 2+2 designs.
Your low miles, stick shift, well maintained car, with luggage, should sell for top dollar, I would think.

If I were you, I'd probably be scheming how I could just keep the car, as an extra car, forever. I'll tell you a quick story. My first Ferrari that I owned about 16 years ago was a red/tan 1988 328 GTS that was in great shape. I traded it in on a 360 and got about $45k for the 328. In hindsight, I should have just kept that car as an "extra one". I kind of wince whenever I see a nice 328 these days, knowing that I used to own one.

    Good luck, either way.

Think I'll hang onto it for a while. I love the car. Sometimes I think about getting more of a hardcore supercar, but the only real option for me would be a 911 variant of some kind (as I like to be able to take my kids sometimes). I like those, but they're just so common. I love the 456 in yellow on black (no yellow stitching - all black). And the v12 roar is intoxicating.

Hey Toggie!...this is Stuart!...how are you?...will you be at Monterey?...anyways,I read your post above...tack on 16 years of maintenance, insurance costs, and additional taxes as you live in Virginia...I think you did ok to trade...it comes to a point that the car becomes a liability more than an asset ,ciao,Stuart
