I'm debating on whether to keep my 355 or move up to a 360. I have a '98 355 GTB F1 with 9,095 miles that will need the 30K service done this year. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the car just thinking on getting something different. I've looked at the 355 and 360 cars available on cars.com and there are so many more 360s on the market. In fact, the higher mileage 360 prices are overlaping the newer, low mileage 355s. What do you all think is a fair difference to expect to pay for a '99-'01 360 coupe(F1 only; no 6-speed and color not important) with say, less than 20K miles? Of course the car has to have records, US car, no accidents or stories, all books, tools, etc. etc....

The longer you wait, the more you will save (on the 360) :)

I personally would wait at least 6-8 months to see what the 360 prices do...

If it doesn't make a difference to you (the price drop by 15-20k), you can buy one now, it is a buyers market on these 360's.
01 can be had for $115-120 with the mileage you desire. And 10-15k less for a 00.

I know of a few friends that just purchased 99's for well under 100k. And they were no story cars...

Of course it's a matter of taste / personal preference...but I wouldn't go to a 360. It's a great car, but the 355 styling is more desirable IMHO...and performance isn't a huge jump either. If anything wait until 430 prices drop - style is the same argument in favor of the 355, but performance is a bigger jump.

I concur. The market is saturated with 360s, and now I see a lot of F430s popping up.

And ... no belt service on a 430.

If you can stomach the major service on the 355, I'd keep it.

A 360 is a good car, its only real problem is 'skin' deep IMO. ;)

If your 355 GTB is Nero, it should command a huge premium vs an 'off color' like rossa or giallo....... ;) :D!!!!

Yes the market is saturated with 360s however, as the price on 360s come down so does the 355s. So I'm still trying to determine a fair difference in price.

If I can't get a fair deal then I will just keep my 355 and have the 30K service, that isn't so much of a concern more than just wanting something different. I just don't want to give mine away to do it.

That is the right color for me also. I have to sell mine first before my wife will let me get into another one. Sometimes trading and adding cash is just easier than doing the whole selling thing on my own.

Yeah no kidding, the trade-in prices I'm getting from the dealers is horrible. I guess they think I'm needing to get rid of it this very very minuite....Those guys are absolutely crazy, or they must think I am! I can't believe people actually give thier cars up that way.

    Hi Richard

I say go 360...I don't think you will be disappointed

My first foray into the Ferrari world was made a few weeks back with the purchase of my 360 Spider...I could not be happier. From my research you should have no problem getting a nice Modena example with your criteria for around 100k. Scottdale Lotus has one on ebay for 109k buy it now....I spoke with them about this car while I was shopping and was told "there was room" in that price:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250214577933

In the end I decided to go Spider over Modena and to buy from a Ferrari dealer. The premiums I paid bought me a warranty, a little piece of mind and good faith with the dealer when I go to get the 430 replacement.

    Good luck!

    Jason
