Looking at an out of state 2021 Roma with 3k miles on it that is Ferrari cpo certified at Ferrari of Seattle.

Should I get this inspected by a third party before committing? Am I taking a big risk if I don't?

Please get a pre-purchase inspection (PPI) from a reputable and independent technician/mechanic, even if buying Ferrari CPO. If you ask here or the Northwest forum, I am sure someone can refer you to a qualified, local technician. For a small investment in time and money, it will save you a lot of headaches later.

I know it is a very different situation, but there is a lengthy and ongoing thread in the 206/246 forum about a gentleman who did not do a PPI on a Dino that he purchased without seeing first.

Absolutely super important that YOU personally go there and see the car with your own eyes. Do not buy on phone or via internet. Never. No matter what seller promises you.
    Zero compromise.

Chris, you are new here so I gather you have not read the numerous threads started by members who bought a CPO Ferrari without a competent PPI and lived to regret it. One case you won't read here is a personal friend who bought a CPO California last year. He ended up in arbitration and the Ferrari dealer settled with him before the case came up. He's thrilled with the car now, but he could have avoided a lot of grief.

It's great if you can see the car yourself, but unless you are a Ferrari expert and have a SD3 or Leonardo or similar, you can't do what a qualified expert can do. Looking at and driving the car will not tell you clutch wear, nor thrown codes, nor other issues an expert would be looking for.

Have the inspection done by someone you have faith in and have researched to prove their abilities.
As the car is a CPO vehicle, I would feel better about it, but this wouldn't cause me to skip the inspection.

My wife and I purchased a CPO car from Chicago 3 years ago and we made a long weekend trip out of it.
We flew out first class and stayed at a great property while there. We did some shopping (designer for her) and explored a city I never visited before.
I didn't have it inspected (might have gotten lucky here) but at least I was able to put my eyes on it before the purchase.
I did have my local dealer look it over after having it shipped to me. There was some shipping damage that the dealer and I split the cost on (long story).
Without seeing the car firsthand, I wouldn't have known the damage wasn't there and would have had to repair the damage by myself.

Whatever you do, have fun and I hope your purchase is full of joy and great memories.

    Regards,
    GG
