    Hey guys!

I was just wasting time tonight checking out 355's on ebay and this one caught my eye as a potential good purchase but nobody has bid on it. Any ideas from you 355 gurus why nobody has bid on this one yet? The color combination is right, it had the valve guides done, and has the 6 speed manual (no expensive f1 tranny).

I'm not really in the market for one but if I was, on the surface this sounds like one I would check out. Comments?

    Paul
P.S. I'm still very happy with my 308 QV. :)

    It does look nice.....

I think Ebay gives great exposure but serious offers might be happening behind the scenes.

Good point. I found my 308 on ebay but never bid on it. I called the seller directly and we talked on the phone for several hours, he sent me pics, carfax, etc... and then I eventually flew down to see the car when it sounded like a really good car (and it was! )

I really like the 355 lines...I prefer the 308 lines but the 355 is a very nice modern but classic Ferrari. I think it's prettier and more well balanced than a 360 but the maintenance issues on a 355 would worry me. Still...if I was to get a newer Ferrari, a 355 would be on my very short list of cars to check out! :)

Yep, bought my 996TT that way. Saw it on EBay, bought it later direct. Seller said pretty much the same thing. So did Bill who had a 1995 black 355 GTB here for sale last year.

The 355 Spider in question belongs to bayareaferrari, and although I don't know him or the car, I'd feel pretty good knowing it was an enthusiast-owned car.

I'd like to take it off his hands, but I still need to further convince the wife that we can swing it...

Seems like a pretty good bargain for that nice of a car. The seller is open to a PPI and has recently done all the expensive servicing.

If you know anything about Ebay, you use a bid sniping service and bid at the very last second or two. Bidding in the days leading up to the close is for the "beginners". ;)

This is exactly the method I used to get the SS in December. Ask plugzit about my last second winning bid - 2 seconds to spare! I have to get my timing down better. :p

As an added tactic, I always put in a few bids during the auction to test the commitment of my competition, then back off until the last second. :D

With 360 models flooding the market now, it's natural that the 355 asking prices will be lower this season.
finally it may be a buyers market for the 355.

Aren't the shields to low to be the factory option enamel ones? Are these just the stickers? Just asking, good looking car though. Oh and speaking of sheilds what was the first year for them on the 355 as an option or were they introduced with the 355's debut?

1998 was the first year...and yes, those are too low. There were still a lot of cars without shields made during 1998 and 1999 355 production, so even those years may have aftermarket shields.

They were a factory order option only except for the Serie Fiorano which all 104 cars came with the shields..

Those are stickers for sure, not enamel shields.
My guess is it will sell before the auction ends, probably behind the scenes.
