    This is my first dry-sumped car so maybe I’m missing something, but should the oil drip off the dipstick this easily?

    It’s not frothy. No smoke out of the exhaust. Gauges look great.

    Oil is Motul 5W40 X-Cess

    It drips like this hot or cold. Very alarming.

    I can get a better video too. This one is quite poor.

    Maybe I’m just paranoid. I took some fresh cold oil from the jug and it dripped off the dipstick almost as easily.

    Here’s another equally crappy video.

    Man, you're using microfiber instead of rag to check your oil level? Seriously? :)

    Back to the OP, maybe just drain into a clean pan for piece of mind? Some full synthetics are pretty "thin". What color is it? Oil colored or more like a milkshake?

    It’s golden. Looks fine. Just really lite.

    As long as its golden and not whitish there is no water in it.

    Modern multi-grade Oil at temperature (220ºF) runs like water.

    It is not the thickness of the oil that is protecting the engine, but the viscosity {and to a certain extent the additive package}
    (note: not grade-weight:: 10W-40, but viscosity in centiStokes:: 14 cSt;
    And when running the snot out of the car its HTHS number in centiPascals: 4.2cP)

    You’re fine. The oil viscosity and oil pressure keeps the metal parts from running together. Todays oils are amazing if you think about what they do.

    I remember I was worried about this too on my F355. Some engines naturally shear the oil and these are probably one of them.
