When I bought my house, it had a curb for the driveway lip -- basically a typical development, where they simply make the streets and run a rounded curb through the whole sh'bang, then the houses are put up. My wife and I looked at the house in our real estate agent's Explorer, then bought it.

The first time I tried to get my Corvette in -- high center. Beyond the lip, the driveway is a nice steep grade down. Coming out was worse!!!. For the first three weeks after moving in, the Corvette stayed in the garage after ripping up the underside. (The car was only four months old, too!)

I called a concrete company and had them come out and rip up the 5" lip and repour a 1.5" lip. (I recall them asking "did you get a permit from the city? No? Good...we'll be there tomorrow to do it.")

Haven't had a problem since. By the way, my 2002 Corvette is much worse than my 328 GTS. There's about 4.5" inches of clearance on the C5, and the sills are so low, it is amazingly easy to high center.

That was a classic clip indeed :D

I remember driving a F355 carefully into a basement garage underneath an appartment to visit a friend... getting in wasn't a problem but... same story as the Top Gear guys... different exit...
Getting out was hell... the width was ok... but the damn' elevation angle wasn't...
Ferrari scraping over concrete... horrible, sickmaking noise IMO... and the car wasn't even mine...:(

Needless to say I never drove into that garage again!

I never take the F40 to anyone's home without seeing the driveway first.

that has to be the worst sound that you can hear while driving. Does anyone know what mode the Ferrari was one, ie. Race.

It's happened to me a few times. Once in Mustang, once in a Supra, once in a Porsche. It sucks. It's less funny for me to watch now because I know how much of a PITA it is. Makes you want a SUV, Jeep, Hummer, Truck etc.
