Why did you write that as one long sentence? Your English/writing teacher should smack you.

Okay, so I was playing on Xbox Live tonight and I asked this guy if he knew any friends that had Ferraris. He said yes, and I said who. He said his friend in Alabama has a yellow Enzo and that he had to import it straight from Italy. I said couldn't, you should have just told the dealer to order that car. He said no there are NO Ferrari dealers in America. This guy must be out of his mind. Anyway, I asked what kind of car he would want, and he said a F430. I said you could just go order it at the dealer closest to you, and he said there are no dealers in America. This guy would not listen to me at all. Then he said that Ferrari had made a car with a Ford engine and all sorts of stuff. I could not get into his head that he could just go and buy a Ferrari from the dealership.

I tried my best to translate from 2nd grade reading level to high school reading level. Microsoft Word started dripping blood after it saw this sentence :D.

Let me give it a try by cutting out all the dead wood:

I was playing xbox live tonight. This other player said he knew a lot about Ferrari. I said, "Nu-huh." He said, "Yea-huh."

Reason we're picking on him is because if you are going to post please make sure that it can be read easily in English, has some punctuation, and isn't a run-on paragraph. Not to mention that they are both wrong.

Well, I wouldn't normally pick on somebody just because they're naive. But this guy came here specifically trying to diss some other dude, so it seems like fair game.

Well i was not trying to diss the other guy, but yes i am wrong for not using punctuation and now i know not to post stuff like this anymore. But couldn't you go to your local Ferrari dealership and order one, and i know it will take a while but you don't have to import it yourself right? The dealership does that for you.

Unless you are good friends with the dealer, it is extremely unlikely that you can walk into a Ferrari dealership and get on the list to order a brand new F430. If you are blessed enough to be on "The List" the car comes from Italy to you.

Yes, theoretically that's how it would work. The cars are imported by Ferrari North America and sold at the local dealers. However, there are so many people who want new Ferraris and so few new Ferraris for sale, that you have to already have a good relationship with a dealer to be able to even get on a waiting list for a new car. If you just walk in off the street and say you want to order a new car, they'll tell you no way. But they'll be happy to sell you a used one.

Oh okay so there is only one real Ferrari dealership, and they then distribute their cars to other dealerships, and thats why it takes 2 years to get one usually if you are on the waiting list

No, there's lots of "real" Ferrari dealerships. Ferrari North America isn't a dealership, it's a subsidiary company of Ferrari that makes it easier for Ferrari to do business in the US. Pretty much any foreign car company is set up this way. It takes a long time to get one even if you've got an order placed because of the small number of cars produced every year.
