You own the copyright to those photos. As far as I see, his use of them do not fall under "Fair Use" as he is using the images for profit. See - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fair_use.

You can demand he remove the photos and it is illegal for him to use them.

In the future, you can put a watermark copyright symbol © on your pictures.

I see the Bullet Motorsports logo 3 of the pictures in the Hunting Ridge Motors ad. I don't see the same pictures on your site however. Maybe the new owner sent them to Hunting Ridge so he could post the car?

Regarding your website those are some lofty claims you make about your resume. As my wife is an executive at JM Family I'll have to ask her if what you have written is true.

 

Why? Just mark it as sold. Seen it done on many other auto sites, even the ones referenced here on fchat.

You need to tell us the CURRENT OWNER has not given them permission to list their car.

I could sell you my Ferrari but that gives me no right to say anything even if you dump gas on it and throw in your zippo.

Otherwise, and I am very sorry to say, you dont have a leg to stand on other then they took your photos.

 

How do you know? Have you asked StreetKing? Seriously my brother, and I am not trying to come down on you, but you have been very specific in that you are only speaking for the previous owner.

Why not let street king say something? Or at least ask him.

So you are admitting that your position was Sales Operations and not Sales Director/Advisor as listed on your website? You created a database or worked on it?

The point I am trying to make is that I personally don't see a difference between what your website says about your CV and what Hunting Ridge Motors did by using your picture. For all you know the current owner told Hunting Ridge to use it. Regarding the car it would seem only the current owner would know if he is selling it. As others have suggested maybe you need to reach out to that person and find out if the other dealer is indeed selling it. People flip cars all the time.

 

I never said I bought a car from Mark Starr but I did look at one he had and the process and the car were as represented.

I'm not a troll but I am a Mod. In my opinion this whole thread is a thinly disguised attempt at promoting your business. We have a standing order from the admin to monitor non-sponsor dealers and that is what attracted me to this thread.

Again, not trying to provoke you. I think it is great that you are a young guy starting a business. You obviously have a good head on your shoulders and have successfully sold some good cars. That is awesome. I'm shopping right now for a 550. See what you can do.

 

I would not lock it till we hear from StreetKing. That answers it all. Thus, I PM'ed him myself since it seems no one else would.

 

As a photographer myself, it irks me that this guy took your photos and posted them on the internet without your permission.

I read up on Fair Use and he cannot claim that. He stole your pictures and used them to try to profit. Because you actually put your logo on the picture helps you a lot...and from what I have read (check for yourself) entitles you to far more $$$ from this guy. There is no excuse for him to continue to use them.

 

lemme join the chorus here... I don't care if it is Streetking's brother and he really is selling the car.

In the mean time I find it bizarre that this car that was only purchased 2 weeks ago is apparently for sale and the new owner has not said a word.

 

Thanks to all who supported me here. The rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated. Hunting Ridge Motors Inc is still in business and doing very well thank you. No longer in Greenwich and no longer a Lotus dealer.

I have been the victim of stolen photos myself many times and know the frustration. These photos were supplied to me by Francisco who was the owner of two 430 Challenge cars. He asked me to market the cars for him. Although the posts are several months old, I have not heard from the owner to tell me the cars were sold and to take them down. I did hear from several people all of a sudden who were calling to find out some information about the car. I also heard from someone in Florida who was nasty on the phone and was also threatening. Not the best way to deal with me or anyone for that matter. I simply asked him to have Francisco call me and to tell me to take them down. Have not heard from him but the car is down anyway.
