I would really like to have some of the race parts off this car.
Should be great track car, but I'm not sure the dealer is prepared to sell at a reasonable price. It's been for sale as long as I can remember.

    Probably not a bargain.

Must be something messed up underneath that they don't want you to notice.

A lot of times the big auction companies- Manheim to name one, will list frame if they see the car has damage on it, sometimes it's not even frame damage. Or if they see it's been repaired. It's a fairly generic term, I'd ask the seller, they were the ones who bought it from that sale.

As far as it being a parts car? Ridiculous people! It's still a complete car. Service it and drive it. I swear you could get a shopping cart ding and people around here would want to junk it out, that makes no freakin sense.

If it was easily repairable they would have said so and there would be a picture of the damage.

If you're convinced it's okay, go for it. For those of us with common sense there's probably a good reason for the damage statement.

At some price this is a decent risk purchase. Track car for sure. Take a body guy down to look at the frame. PPI the car. Then pull the trigger! How much do you think alcantara seat covers cost? They seem to be confused about whether this car is a 1992 or a 1993. Whatever. Someone should go look at it.

What I'm saying is a lot of times it has already been repaired. What they do is throw up a big sign that says "frame" on it. Just so that the buyer knows it has been in an accident or has had frame repair or even just body repair.

I'm not telling him to buy the car, but it may be worth checking it out and having a body shop look at it.

Tried to buy that car from the guy who owned it a few yrs ago. It needed a major then, and he since sold off some nice parts. Challenge wheels, seats, lap timer etc...

The front end is F/G with Dzus fasteners. It does not look as good closeup.

This car is worth 20k tops.

Hahahaha.. $20,100 bid "reserve not met". Sorry but that is beyond funny. What does this guy think he has there. I'd say 20,100 is an outstanding offer for that bucket of bolts.

Is "Serie Specia" meaningless or just is it just a modded 348? Maybe its a POS but is there any possile rarity to the serial #s?

I am still interested but dont want to overpay. At $20-25k an additional $10k may make it perfect for my goal. If I can get another 2 years of track time with it and it still be worth a **** I'm still in....

Sounds like you've got a plan. Not a lot of guys have experience with track 348s, so don't be discouraged by those who look for originality. Check history, quality of modifications, soundness of engine and trans, straight chassis. It's unreasonable to expect a track car to never have been tagged, but certainly a bonus if it hasn't been. These cars are very robust-not nearly as fragile as some believe. If you can get it in the low 20s, it's probably a great deal, and maybe a good deal in the high 20s. Could be worth a lot more if fresh and very well equipped. If it's got good provenance, maybe pay more. SS's number under 100, but probably no premium for this one. I'm not far from this car, and have been wanting to see it-maybe I could go next week. PM me.

I think it's a 355 challenge piece. Expensive. APR Performance has a reasonable one we put on the Challenge car about the same size and probably better aero. You can see pics on our thread about the Infamous 358.
