Correct, offered with no manual..exactly my point. I hope you don't have the same sentiments as the OP. I can't help but feel offense when somebody calls anybody that owns an ultra high-end car a poseur (especially if it's based on transmission) These ultra-high end owners are my friends, and many are quite accomplished on and of the track. No need to call anybody/any car a poseur in my opinion I think that alone will speak very negatively on the accuser. I agree there are instances where it is warranted - (conversions come to mind where chicanery is the very goal: You take a car and pretend it is another) That's calling a spade a spade. You and I both, that's why I don't call any car/anybody a poseur unless their actions prove otherwise to me. I have no clue, I've never driven a 488. I just read articles, from what I can tell it's been all positive. There was some comments of the engine note not being as good as the 458 - but that's a very subjective subject.
Tell me about it. There's basically 5 separate issues in this thread. 1) If somebody chooses an automatic, are they 'less' of a driver? - some here insist they are sadly 2) Is manual great/fun? - It's unanimous that it is, but some people seem to use this fact as support for #1 3) Do manual transmissions usually command a premium on the used segment? - Again, this is unanimous that they usually do, and again some use this fact as support for #1 4) Do ultra-high end manufacturers (McLaren, Ferrari, Lambo) have their typical buyers demanding manual transmissions for their new cars? - I've posted many links to articles that have pretty much showed this is a resounding NO. 5) Should these ultra-high end manufacturers make manual transmissions even if it is a money losing proposition and have take rates of 1-2%? I said this is their prerogative and I have no say. I illustrated that folks supporting #5 here don't plan to buy such a car if they do so it's ultimately a moot point. Cheers and be well.
i dont drive good at all, have no interest in going to a track and driving in circles faster than someone else. most boring thing i can imagine. having said that, i been driving 3 pedal cars my whole life and they are more engaging to drive than a 2 pedal car. I just bought a f12, great car, still boring compared to my 3 pedal cars. Why did I buy it? because its not a pain in the ass when i'm lazy. When i'm not lazy and want to actually drive and enjoy it to the fullest, i take out a 3 pedal car. more intimate than a 2 pedal car. ain't rocket science, there's reason for each and a market for each. Nothing more nothing less. possibly now this thread can finally come to a end, conversation is great, circular arguments are not. best Eric aka thread killer.
