http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060403/NEWS01/604030389/1002/OPINION Help this kid fight this thing, kick up a fuss, do whatever you can ! He was being so responsible - he voluntarily turned the knife over to authorities as soon as he stepped onto schoolgrounds, and these boneheads are *still* threatening expulsion. The only clear message this is sending is : if you bring a knife to school, don't turn it in.
According to the newspaper's forum..."the school has dropped formal charges against the kid." If you read the other comments in the forum, you get the feel that the principal there has a habit of expelling students for all kinds of things. And no one is able to do anything about it.
Gee, what a great way to reinforce responsible behavior. When they call the principle out onto the carpet I hope they grill him about his ability to make decisions on his own. Typical situation these days where people increasingly have no ability or authority to make decisions.
