I'm really, really impressed by this kid. I really think he's got a good future, I can't believe that qualifying, 3rd (on his 2nd F1 race). Just amazing.

I've never been a big fan of Webber I think he's over rated. I think Rosberg is the next big thing.

He was good when he did his first test at Williams when he was still 17 Years Old. He was excellent last year in GP2 in a very very competitive field. Although it might be too soon to start singing his praises, the kid definately has something.

I agree ... way too soon to say to much. I do think he has someting.

I would rather have him right now (still somewhat green to F1 car potential) than Massa.

I looks like Weber is going to have to step his performances ... if he's up to the challenge

I've seen a lot of Massa bashing but honestly he's done better than I think most expected this year. He could have started from pole in bahrain if he didn't get held up.

That's true but at the time I don't think Ferrari had a better option to go with so they're trying to make the best of the situation. I doubt we'll see him racing for Ferrari next year simply because they want Kimi and Rossi to race for them.

off topis, but did anyone hear the rumors from Renault that they want and all Finn racing team next year? Kimi and Kovalainnen next year is a strong possibility.

I didn't expect this, but I would say now that Nico will outperform him this season. Will be interesting to watch.

I think Rosberg at Williams is a perfect fit, no high pressure at a Manufacturers team. Patrick Head and Frank Williams are true racers and very level headed guys, perfect for developing an intelligent and quick driver. Jean Alesi is the perfect example of a talent that should have gone to Williams instead of Ferrari early in his career, no drama. Although Ferrari is a lot different team now, basically much more international (Todt, Brawn, Byrne, Etc). I would love to see Nelson Piquet Jr. in F1 soon as well.

Just one question: exactly how is Nico considered German? Is it the same sort of deal that classifies Bobby Rahal's son as Lebanese?

Regardless, the kid is clearly something special.

What do you mean by German? Who says? He does seem to be the real deal so far. Pretty solid personality, too.

My cousin went to school with Nico in France and they are pretty good friends. Every year he goes to the Monaco GP and this year he will be in the williams pits with Rosberg. Anyways, my cousin has been telling me he is one driver to watch. The guy is a genius and super talented. Definitley world champion material. In addition he is one of the most down to earth people.

Maybe they say he is german because he was possibly born there ?

I still get a kick out of people that call Mario Andretti an italian and Eddie Cheever an american..... Mario was raised in the USA and Cheever was raised in Italy...

A few years ago ALL of the nascar drivers were from 'North Carolina', even the ones that had just moved there, and it kinda shifted when Ernie Irvan moved there from CAL., then they started using their 'real' hometowns.

They've never really referred to Mario as being Italian--more like Italian-American. He did come over on the boat, after all.

What got to me a little is in the nationalities for the Olympics, expecially figure skating. Many of the pairs, especially Russians, live and train in the Northeast U.S. but skate for Russia. A Canadian woman gets her U.S. citizenship fast-tracked by sympathetic politicians (elections coming up!) so she can skate for the US. But U.S. Speedskater Shani Davis lives and trains in Calgary. Whatever makes for good TV I guess.

I was wondering that too. Actually he is Fin by birth (his father Keke is Fin), but I think I heard once he grew up or spent a good amount of time in Germany. Dunno whether he has dual passports, but just from the qualifying interview today I would say he speaks German. His accent is definitely not Fin.

Does anyone , besides me , want Kimi and Nico in the red cars in the years to come ? ( Although for 2007 i'd prefer schumi/rossi at ferrari and kimi/alonso at mclaren)

i just hope i don;t see rossi there. nothing personal, but i think it'll destroy whatever reputation he has. just hope for schu-kimi. but it all depends how massa performs this season. his drive in malaysia was just stunning, and he should have gotten pole in bahrain. so, it's kinda too early to judge this situations. even rosberg. lets all not rush. just wait for the season to progress, then, we'll see...

From what was said on the coverage we get, Rosberg doesnt even know how to speak finish.

Soo far soo good, but still along way in this championship. As I have said before, Button was all praise when he joined Williams back in 2000 and well he is still struggling to win tho this year could be the strongest chance.

Still it looks like he will have a long future in the sport but well F1 is a funny game and you can be Mr popular one race and everyone hates you the next.

I was thinking the same thing. This Nico kid does sound promissing. Time will tell just how good he is or isn't. Remember when Takuma came on the scene? He sure was impressive but now he doesn't look so hot. I do hope Nico turns out to be the real deal, because it will make for exciting racing once Micheal retires.

You're gonna see Rossi in a red car next year, so get used to it. The MotoGP class changes to 800ccs, and Honda will, as usually, have a huge advantage in the 1st year, exactly time for Valentino to move to cars. He won't be embarassed, but a lot of the F1 drivers will be.
