Doug is pretty entertaining. I liked his pieces on the Lotus ownership.

We are making a similar trip mid May from Tampa to the Dragon for an annual event up there. Figure we'll rack up 1500 miles or so, with a lot of hard driving in between. I'm not concerned at all. Usually, the trip is done in our fully caged, track prepped 240Z without A/C (or radio.. carpets... uh, anything really)

I was told all Ferraris are quirky?? This one must be an exception.

 

Yeah he's on Jalopnik. Every other sentence is "I have a ferrari!". I'd like his writing more if he actually acknowledged that he really likes the car, instead of having little comments like how the horse emblem came off his ferrari key and it might be expected. Kinda like calling your girlfriend fat in front of your "friends" to make then laugh. Watch when he compares a Lexus to it. Equally cheezy. The tv on top of he 360... Really?

What I'd like to know is how a twenty something "automobile writer" can afford a Ferrari. I know he's making payments, it sounds like he's going to own it for 6 months and then banks on selling it for the same he bought it. If its that easy, why isn't everyone an automotive journalist? We'll see if he makes it out without any major expenses..

I agree. I cannot stand this guy. If owning a Ferrari is such a burden and you have nothing but criticism, sell it.

Totally agree. regarding the gas gauge, just fill it regularly and not try to run it near empty.
Idiot. He should go out and buy a Japanese car. No issues to complain about.

 

His issues with the "phantom" check engine code are caused by his cheap reader reading only one bank. If he knew more about the car, he wouldn't be so confused.

 

I have never had a "random" CEL in 6 years.

 

That's whats so annoying. He doesn't know what he's complaining about. Its like "that guy" that can't be bothered to read the signs that say "exit"... complaining he's trapped in the building!

Agreed on the random CEL.. I know that its a dealer supplied option code: "$$$44.3$$". Basically it comes on randomly so you bring your car to the dealer so they can charge you diagnostic fees. I didn't get it in my euro model.

Ummm. No. its not something that "normally happens with these cars". There is a problem that shouldn't be there. It possibly a bad connection at the drivers side pump. And shouldn't be ignored like a CEL.

What scares me is some nitwit with an Evo or 3 series Bimmer watches this and actually thinks ownership is like this. Bad ownership maybe..

Dog works every time! Funny video...I've had a few scream nice car but no phone #'s yet...although a guy on the other team told me my car was "sexy!" Whew...luckily, I am engaged!

 

I have had people approach me about this video! It's getting around. Must have been fun to make.

 

It's all a ploy to get youtube views... This guy has stated many times that the 360 gets TONS of attention wherever it goes, but complains that most car guys are intimidated by Ferrari Owners.

 

A tool? That's Rob Ferretti !! This guy has the best videos and offered so many people the chance to rent there dream car , Gotham dream cars. I think he has a lot of experience when it comes to Exotics especially he owns a exotic rental company. He had seen it all. He has been involved with exotics for many years. I think his video isn't stopping me from wanting a Ferrari and even with the issues he still bought a Ferrari.
