This what happens to P-cars when a 360CH bites them in the....

A friend in his 360Challenge did not even try to pass this Porsche, yet that poor driver thought he has to show it all.
I guess a 360Challenge is faster than a Porsche Turbo

Not even blue tape helps this car

 

I would have been shocked if the 360 CH wasnt faster than a P turbo..Its a race car after all ..on slicks.

Poor car. Some of you may not like it, but I still think the 996 is a great car.

 

What in the world, the whole bumper cover is taped . . .

 

The mirrors are even folded in for faster speed.

Yeah, the owner didnt want to get any scratches or stone chips... guess that didnt work out too well. Maybe he shldve taped the entire car.

how about a bit of compassion for the poor guy who binned his pride and joy? How would you be feeling if that was your car in the pic???

 

Goes to show you how will built these cars are. I doubt he even got injured in this crash.

 

i agree wholeheartedly. no matter what kind of car someone drives, its really unfortunate when this happens to someone trying to have a good time on the track...

I don't find any humour in this at all. Actually I find this one of the most stupid and tasteless threads I have seen in a long time.

 

Terrible accident, but...haha, oh the irony.

 

I wonder how this Porsche driver feels on 360CS now... either he hates the car like his enemy because indirectly the car caused him to crush, or respect the car & consider it untouchable.

 

Why?

 

All you aces must have never had a wreck and think it's funny when someone else does. Or, another person's mishap establishes your superior driving skill. You also probably go to the races to see the crashes. You might even think you are better drivers than Zanardi, Senna, McLaren and so on; those pinheads sure screwed up.

I wish I was as clever and good a driver as some of you Ferrari owners are. Maybe I would be if I had a CH. I can only aspire that some day I can own the mighty, the invincible, the unwreckable 360CH (choir of angels crescendo begins here).

If it was an untimed event, it's possible.

There was almost another incident like this at Sebring less than a month ago. A friend of mine was driving his M3 on track, when two of the NGT-Motorsport 360 Challenges roll up behind him. He heard the cars, and let them go by. A guy in front of the M3 in a black 996 C2 saw the cars and got VERY ruffled up when he saw the Challenge cars closing in on him, so he pulled off track. They said he looked like he was soiling his pants, and that he stayed off track for a few more laps (they passed him while he was sitting there). We looked out for that black 996 when we were at the track the next day...

 

Must be because you have a 911, right?

 

Let me make this perfectly clear....

if you are in a non times event, for not even bragging rights, not even a plastic trophy, nothing and you crash you street car into the wall you have:

a. no driving skills, means you should do a school before you go on the track?
b. too much testosterone, then you should get laid.
c. too much ego (after all its South Florida) and not enough brain, then you should not make it to the track.
d. all of the above.

Risking your car by driving 10/10 and not getting paid for it is plain DUMB in my book.
The car was leased on top of it. Great making payments on a wreck for the next 3 years.

The 360CH is probably the most likely candidate to spin and go off course. In fact my buddy who the P-driver thought was chassing him, had spun in Sebring a few weeks earlier. 360CH require good drivers with excellent skills. Why most people will tell you to not get a 360CH for track use as an amateur.

Again driving 10/10 is dum unless you are MS and get paid for it! Then you crash and then you are expected to crash every now and then.

Feeling sorry? No not one bit! I told the driver how stupid that was! He knows trust me, he knows!

Easy to say but in reality, most drivers don't know how far from the limit they are. In fact, the only way to learn the limit is to find it. I don't know a single racer out there that never spun a car. Some of us are lucky and stay almost on course. Some of us end up in a walls.

Additionally, I have never seen a DE without some small amount of friendly competition. It is just part of the game and pushes people to drive a bit faster.

I think that damaging cars is unfortunately part of track driving. That's one of the reason why owning a track car makes sense.

OK, that was the lamest load of crap I've read in a while. What do you think untimed "track day" events are for, genius ? They're for allowing people to discover the limits of themselves and their cars in a more responsible fashion than doing it on the street.

Obviously, determining those limits must involve approaching them closely and even exceeding them occasionally with resulting problems. If you're going to "stay safe" with a large margin, why come to the track at all ?

I recently had a crash on the track. I spun out and a car that was following too closely behind sideswiped me. Despite the fact that this wasnt a P- or F-car, it still had a huge impact on me and the other involved party. Yes, the repairs were expensive (we each footed our own respective bills). No, neither of us claimed from insurance because it happened off-road and we wanted to be above board in the whole thing.

I can totally relate to how bad the driver of the P-car must be feeling. Even if he had done something "dumb" (purely your opinion) leading to his accident, you have no right to be passing judgement on him. Instead you should be respecting the fact that he was testing the limits on a proper track and sympathing with his misfortune.

you are right that we don't know our limits but yet when we drive we can feel when we are pushing too hard getting us close to our limit.
You can feel the car going lose under braking, you can feel it getting lose in a turn. That is when you learn that you are not good enough.

Well at least you should learn.

This happened driving off the embankment on the back straight onto the road course. This is a 140Mph turn from a NASCAR oval onto a flat straight. We were warned about the transition in the drivers meeting. This used to be a turn I took full throttle just lifting off right before turning in, now it is a brake in turn.

Driver BTW was fine. If not I would have posted this differently.
