Thanks Vasco!
u.s!!! keep in mind that was for one of the first registration slots and as the deadline gets close the price goes down, or maybe doesn't go down but they get more desperate to fill the slots so they take what people will pay.
That residue stuff from debadging is because of the 3M adhesive. These are just decals/stickers meant for easy-on-easy-off.
When did you buy a Gallardo? Anyway, if you take a look at past cars at the rally you'll see that sticker residue was never an issue...even on cars a little bit more expensive than a Gallardo... Image Unavailable, Please Login
RT if you got a loaner or are renting ..obviously ...be safe. Regarding riding with the gumball cars - within 30 seconds of the start line you can roll with the gumball cars, all the way, some of the way - there is nothing to stop it - just be careful not to get in the way 8) On last years route I recall someone with an white SLR who had decal`d his up - looked nothing like a gumball car - had Jonny walker logos IIRC - had a number - I saw him for at least an hour driving. No problem. There was also a old guy and his son who followed from LA to Gran Canyon I think. He was in a Corrolla. The gumball drivers would give them their gumball t-shirts - they were just car nuts and fans of the drive..no harm to anyone. There was lambos and other nice cars that weren't decal`d who`d you`d see for a hour or so as well. Regarding hotels - the gumballers don't take all the rooms so theres nothing to stop lodging at the same hotel - no one will care - apart from the food which is a ****ty buffet the drivers are not segregated, after all its just normal rooms. Even last years wrap party in Miami was in a night club that then opened its doors to the public within an hour and a half of the awards ceremony starting. There's not enough gumballers to NOT open a wrap party up to public - just don't expect to get in right at the start. In the morning right at the start line sometimes the police escorts could make it difficult to join in but so often starting out in the morning there was no escort. Tended to be a very casual start with people gathering - they just set off out a hotel or resort car park. Even when there is an escort if you were able to swing your car in line a little away from the start area I really doubt the police would wave you out - they are NOT there to police who is or is not a gumballer they just want all the cars out their town safely and very quickly. Ive driven the lambo, bentley and H1 down to New York on many occasions. Its an nice drive - the NY city roads are crazy bad - almost as bad as Toronto for potholes 8) but I enjoy the NYC driving - Washington is worse than Toronto by a loooong way. You need balls of steel to drive a low nice car around NYC taxis HOWEVER I still see waaaaay less accidents in NYC than in Toronto. Im not sure if I`m doing it next year. Im finding it hard to plan my schedule that far ahead. And I drive down to NY once every couple months anyways.
I'm guessing they'll close down a part of yonge street down by the lake and have the cars go through the yorkville ending up at a hotel around there..
I heard quite a few people do that...I had a buddy follow the rally that went coast to coast in the states in his skyline and no one said anything...You just miss out on the prices pretty much..
