    Not sure exactly where to put this but I experienced my lift getting stuck yesterday with a car on it. Doing some investigating I discovered that the wire cables had fallen off of the pully system. I had to put it on the locks and disconnect all of them and restring them. What a Pain. Here are a couple of pics... Lift is 5 years old but it was kind of nerve racking.

    I can imagine that would be extremely nerve racking!! and dangerous! Any idea what caused the cables to jump the pulleys?

    I think I had jacked the lift up on one side and had a car leaning at a sevear angle to do maintainance and they slipped off slowly then a few months ago the lift started making these scratching a d scraping noises

    Thanks... I have 3 X/19s and 850 race car and something unique dressed in black.

    I just sold the one on the lift for a small fortune to a nice guy in Europe.

    I will post more pics later...

    In one of those pics, looks like you have some cable damage. Might want to have the checked out.

    I just had my lift inspected/serviced by the company I bought it from 5 years ago.

    First time I had had it done.

    The owner himself and a tech came out, spent an hour and a half going over it, made some adjustments, cleaned it up, and charged me $200. Money well spent for piece of mind.

    Glad you were able to take of it, with out any damage to the car or injury to yourself.

    I had a similar looking lift and it shifted with a car on it and got stuck.... broke out some HI Lift jacks from the 4x4s and got it aligned, took it down, gave it away and bought two Back Yard Buddies. The extra cash is worth it... I don't handle stress well I guess.

    The highlifts are cheap and handy to keep around if you have a lift and hate stress.

    having your car stuck way up in the air is an interesting situation. Experienced that a while back. I had raised it up as far as I could and left it there. Didn't get to be a problem until I needed to get her back down. Apparently, the hydraulics are a bit leaky and there wasn't enough fluid left in it to lift it enough to get past the safety stops. Felt slightly less than clever standing there :D
