I was reading the threads about various restaurants as meeting places and didn't see one particular one which I think is worth mentioning. This restaurant was formerly known as Villa Marcella in Elk Grove Village, and now the owner Sergio Abate (a crazed Tifosi) has opened Sergio's Cucina Italiana in Itasca. It's a cut far above the red sauce places but it's not Bice either. Lots of nice seafood, veal, and pasta dishes and I know he'd be crazy about hosting a dinner of Ferrari nuts.

I used to work in the area and ate there frequently, might be a good choice for an F1 get together.

It's an idea. We were talking about a F1 lunch, the Brazilian GP being in our time zone (almost) would be a good event. Also since it will be the last race of the year and certainly an event for Tifosi to celebrate (I predict Rubens before Michael).

Does Villa Marcella have Speed TV?

My posting wasn't very clear; my apologies, Villa Marcella lost its lease in Elk Grove (it was at Thorndale and Rohlwing) and now it's down the road in Itasca as Sergio's Cucina Italiana. He had Speed TV in Villa Marcella, I can't imagine that he doesn't in the new place.

I live in Ohio now, so I can't check it out very easily, but I wanted to suggest it as Sergio would not be annoyed by the idea as some restauranteurs would be, more likely, he would love it. Good luck and keep me posted, I might drive up for such a meet. :)

I have some thoughts about tying in F1 races at the appropriate Restaraunt for the Country in which the race is run. Ferrari show, too. But. First need to see what kind of a commitment I can get from anyone who would be interested in attending,Rain or Shine. Once a commitment is made with a Restaraunt, the cars need to be there whether it's raining or not....Thoughts? Comments? Ideas? Suggestions? Anyone else up for this?

Also, one of the Corvette Clubs that I was affiliated with, had a Monthly meeting at a restaraunt...usually always the same one. Another Corvette Club that I visited occasionally did that also. I would really like to do that with our F.O.C. and all of it's members. And,even Non Members. All were welcome at these Corvette Club meetings. It is a great way to get together every month, and all discuss the "Goings On",and get ideas,thoughts,comments,etc...from ALL of the members...(and potential New Members). Comments? Naturally, somewhere that would be centrally located for all of us....if thats possible....:)

(BTW...you did not HAVE to eat or drink anything there. But,alot of people usually did.)

Good points, but this is easily solved by rigid adherence to paid pre-registration, e.g.: no "pay up-front", no special deal on the food. Of course, anyone can show up the day of the event and pay a higher price for the owner's inconvenience and order from the menu.

An Italian restaurant in Itasca is probably not overwhelmed with Sunday lunch business. Put out the announcement/program 2 months in advance, make the pre-pay cutoff date whatever the owner requests (usually the Monday or Tuesday before the weekend event) and go from there.
