Just thought I'd share some thoughts and what I saw at this event this past weekend. They had the 360 challenge race, Drum/disc races and CSTS race along with dealers and people bringing amazing cars to this event.

    Saw so many different Ferraris (308s, 328s, a Testarossa, 512bb, 612 Scaglettis, 360's, F355s, a 400i, a 246gts, 456's, F430s, a F430 spider, and every guise of newer Maserati) No 348's which surprised me, but here we go (Lamborghini Gallardo, F40, 2 ENZO's! and a 288GTO!!!!!!)

    Impressions:
They were giving rides (to potential buyers for Maseratis) - The Gransports looked and sounded AWESOME! Stood right next to them when they started up. Dang, nice DEEP noise. No need for aftermarket on that one. I think Tubi supplies them out of the box.

    ENZO:
Whoever said this car isn't beautiful hasn't seen one in person. They had a black one and a red one. The red one was incredible! Truly amazing, crowd gathered in seconds, people posing with the cars it was great.

    288GTO:
Never thought I'd see one in person living in Wisconsin. Great car and gathered the same crowds. Fantastic!

    F40:
Always nice to see one - again fantastic and crowds came out of the woodwork to look at it and take pictures.

    F430:
Raspy exhaust at idle (which surprised me), out on the track it was loud. I mean LOUD! Brought a huge smile on my face!

    612Scagletti:
Much better looking in person. A prettier car than most give it credit for. Hopefully Ferrari doesn't make a road car any bigger in the future however. It's longer than my E320!

Just wanted to share what I saw with my fellow auto enthusiasts!

I was at the event and had a great time (the Road America one). I was one of those guys taking pictures of myself with the Enzos. I met a few Ferrari owners, and I must say they were all very wonderful people and loved talking about their cars. This definatly won't be the last Ferrari event I attend. I was also one of the few to be invited by Maserati to test drive their cars. I drove the GranSport which I am now in love with. The only gripe I had about the experience was they took us on public roads around the racetrack and I wasn't able to really get on the car as much as I wanted to. Anyway, I have pictures posted online at http://photos.yahoo.com/wangsdeli. They were taken with a throw away camera as I forgot my digital at home (whoops!).

Tell me what you thought of the Gransport and how it drove. How did it sound? Any body roll? I heard them start them up and sounded absolutely wonderful at startup, I was really impressed. Have you driven Porsches ever? How does it compare? How was the paddle shifters, was it herky-jerky ever?
    Thanks for your thoughts.

I really liked the GranSport and thought it drove well. The car really sounded beautiful and I was pretty impressed by that as well, in fact, I still can't get over how good the car sounded. When I drove it I did not notice any body roll at all, although I was wondering about that with the Quatroporte. I really liked the paddle shifters and it was one of the few times that I've actually ever driven a car that uses them, so I was a little thrown off at first when my left foot kept trying to press in the clutch :). I only noticed a little herky-jerkyness once with the car, but the gear changes went by very smoothly. I've driven a Boxster, Cayanne (nonturbo), and 911 Carrera from Porsche. The Boxster and Cayanne do not compare, and the closest one would be the 911. The 911 is a wonderful car, but to me the GS just had more soul to it and the sound of the car is truely priceless. Ideally the GS's rival is the 911 Turbo and not the Carrera, but I suspect I'd still pick the GS. My other personal thoughts on the car is that if you are choosing between the 911 and GS, I'd go GS (although get one slightly used, depreciation on these cars are terrible). The only other complaint I've heard about the Maseratis is lack of dealer support. But those points aside, the Maserati is simply more exclusive and just an overall kickass car. Hope this helps!
