With Flat vs. Metallic (Pearl) Yellow, there is no contest: Metallic Yellow wins hands down with me.

With Flat vs. Metallic Orange, slightly different. I'm starting to warm up to the Flat orange. Actually think it provides a deeper, warmer shine.

Haven't seen the flat in person, but seen enough pictures. Here's one.

N / E / Others who have compared and contrasted the two - your thoughts?

    Thanks.

Looks good, but IMO you really have to see in person. Unless, say, you are only keeping the car for a few weeks anyway, then if you don't like it it doesn't matter ;)

I think the shade gives the orange there more depth. In person you will find the orange to be lighter in color then depicted in the photo. The Diablo with the metallic orange is really awesome, wonder if they will be offering this on the G in the future.

My vote is for the metallic. I've seen both next to each other and the metallic paint give the car more dimension. The flat is nice as well, but has to be at 100% (clean and polish) in order to give the car the "pop" it deserves. Metallic orange also "hides" imperfections better than the flat paint. Just my opinion of course...

Personal preference: Metallic on the Gallardo, Flat on the Murci. I'll never forget the time I saw a Flat Orange Murci pull into CC --- EVERYONE's jaw dropped and we all gathered around it. What a stunning car, still.

I've seen Flat on the Gallardo -- it's just not the same. Probably because the sharp angles on the G need the "smoothing" that a metallic paint offers, whereas the Murci is a rounder car already and doesn't need the added touch.

Just my $0.02...and you know what that's worth...;)

Who coined the term "flat" for describing a solid color?

Not to be a bite in the ass, but to me flat refers to a non-reflective matte finish. You either have a solid or a metallic. But maybe thats just me?

Hands down I'll always choose a metallic candy color for a Lambo, and the orange is no exception.

Vik... I think that g-pic above @ the track is especially juicy and deceiving. It looks so good there, but I think the in-person wow factor wld be less dramatic.

Either way... cop that ish pronto and play on!

I used to love the pearl yellow and orange.

WOW. Flat orange, on Gallardo, Murcielago, or even a pinto. That is THE orange color to have.

    metallic!

I've seen both next to each other, and while the solid orange is nice - and would be great if the metallic wasn't available - the metallic shines with shades of yellow which look mindblowing in sunlight.

I don't trust looking at the pictures because there are too many variables, including light, camera settings, electronic processing of image, monitor settings, etc. (With high quality source material, small variations in the adjustment of the monitor, color temperature, black level, etc. have profound effects on the look of an image- i've seen it with identical source material, and identical studio level CRT monitors- it ain't subtle). Having said all that, to my eye, the flat finish is deeper looking and more interesting.
