What do you guys think about Jethro Tull? While in the Navy I listened a lot to the album "Aqualung". I am thinking about looking for a re-release of it. What do you think?

I always thought he was a genius.
My first album was "Thick As A Brick" and the second was Aqualung. I have numerous "Best Of " CD's currently.

You can get new or used and out of print editions of all of his music on Amazon.com for some very good prices. No bidding, no B.S, No Paypal.

    Have fun looking!

I think they were an incredible band. Martin Barre was (and still is) an extremely good guitarist (just listen to how perfect the acoustic section of Aqualung is) and Ian Anderson was a musical genius. One of the greatest bands of all time in my book.

Ian Anderson was my favorite. That breathy flute was something that set them apart. Thick as a Brick was very good also. Saw them in concert once but I was in the back of the concert hall so I could not see much, through the haze.

I loaded up my iPod with a bunch of JT music a few months back. I'd forgotten how much I liked the song "Thick as a Brick".

One of the first songs I heard on a "good" stereo (late 70's "good" that is) was Aqualung. Great songs, great lyrics, great times!!

Jethro Tull is a great group. I've seen them live a couple of times and saw Ian Anderson solo once. Only complaint about their concert was that it wasn't LOUD enough!! :D

The band I wish I'd have had the chance to see live was Traffic. They're my favorite. I did get to see Steve Winwood solo, once in Cleveland and once at Royal Albert Hall in London, England. THAT was cool.

    Cheers,
    Aaron

Jethro Tull used to be one of my favorites, but I almost never play their stuff any more, and I'm burned out on the few "classics" that are the only Tull tunes they ever play on the radio. I can't stand to hear Aqualung any more.

I saw them three times in concert in Seattle. First time with the Eagles opening, second time with Yes opening, third time with Robin Trower opening.

My favorite Tull album will always be the first one, "This Was".

JT is one of my favorite groups from the 70's / 80's. I have 5 or 6 of their albums on CD. The louder the better!

Used to like their music, but it seems kinda boring now. I've heard a few stories from people who have "encountered" Ian Anderson and it sounds like he's a world class ******.

Makes me wonder if the qualities of genius and artist go hand in hand with the liabilities of inflated ego and being an ******, it's seems so, more often than not.

I saw them in concert a few years ago (in fact, had a stage seat). Ian played the majority of his solo's on one foot. I was impressed. I am a fan and 'Aqualung' is one of my oldy favorites.

I had heard this as well and found verification of how much of a jerk he was by looking the liner notes of the Jethro Tull greatest hits cd. When you opened them there was a poster with him in the middle and the 30 or 40 various musicians who had gone through the band and been kicked out. Weird dude imo.
