Having a conversation with friends about possible personalized plates and got a very negative response with a plate idea using “RARI 812”… in particular the RARI part. It didn’t really bother me, but I was surprised at how strongly they felt that it was dumb so thought I’d come here to see what others thought.

I wouldn't worry about it and get the plate you want. My 458 has "4RE" on the plate and I've never had any problems. I sent a render to all my friends before ordering and it was 100% positive. I've had random people walk up to me when parking and tell me they really like my license plate.

My wife's Portofino M will have "PONY" on the plate so it's a little more subtle . . . .

All of my cars have some sort of personal plate that is attributed to the car or brand. The only way I can remember the plate numbers. Have fun with it. It’s your car. If it doesn’t work or you change your mind, you can always change it up the next year.

F12 wasn't available, so I went with EF12. Most people don't get it, but my main intent was to have as few letters and numbers as possible, so I'm happy and get some occasional positive feedback. I have seen other posts though where there's intense negativity to personalized plates. Maybe it depends on what message your sending.
