    Hello Everyone,
I am hoping I can get some guidance in regard to Ferrari luggage.

Does this bring more value when you sell your car?

I have a 1986 Monospecchio black on tan with 33k miles, so its not a pristine car compared to some of the low mileage vehicles.

Is buying a 7/10 6-piece black testarossa luggage without the dust covers a good Invesment?

Looking at the prices, how much higher can these go? Would it bring a better ROI when I sell the car one day?

Any guidance would be more than greatly appreciated!

    Thanks Everyone

    Hi,
I think it is definitively a plus to the resale value to your car. But I am pretty sure that the sale value of the car + luggage is always lower than the sum of the separate resale of the car and the luggage. So negative ROI...
To maximize your ROI with the luggage, I think you need to have the 6 of them (not the 2 or four), eventually in the matching color of your interior (I just know brown and black for the luggage), but in a very good shape, with the dust covers, and also their respective keys. And be aware of the wear on the inside of the luggage...

Thanks so much for your feedback and advice. It is a black 6 piece set and the wear is noticeable as well. They only have one set of keys that opens all of the luggage and does not come with dust covers.

The wear on the inside is noticeable. My car is black on tan so I thought black would be better fitting, but maybe not?

If luggage added value to the car at resale, why do so many people sell the car and keep the luggage for later resale?

Waste of money all the way around.

Depends on what you call a waste of money. Our set is worth several times what we paid for it. I could be wrong but never heard of someone selling a set for less than they paid for it. Also if you travel in a Testarossa I have never found a way to carry more than using the luggage set. It uses the available space very efficiently. And yes, you are correct the cars without luggage are not worth as much less as a set of luggage but thats no different than saying I can part the car out and sell the parts for more than the entire car. And thats true. Ted Rutland did that regularly.

I was interested in buying a pristine complete set for mine years ago when they could be had routinely under $5k but like virtually everything else got way too expensive. I’m convinced at this point that sets are not particularly rare either.

Without batty the b b Bat luggage costs and pretty much everything else wouldn't be inflated.

That said most sets are average in / out.

So to the OP's question, like with F's, buy the best you can afford ... or the worst there is.
The middle is the middle, literally and metaphorically - most crowded space, most competition, etc. etc

Personally, if an entire pristine set was more than I wanted to spend, I'd go for 1-2 nice pieces over a complete average set.
Buy something with a story. Despite some banging on about "garage queens", Like New or a gracefully aged set is a story considering they
haven't been made for 30+ years. Or find a totally trashed set that's a story in its own right.

Both black and tan complement your color combo.
Black looks best mint - got a set, but like garage queens, it's not cheap. Tan wears defects better.

    Your mileage may vary.

If you call or email Schedoni, they are very easy to work with and can make you new dust covers for a fee. Mr Schedoni and his staff are a pleasure to deal with.

I got my set of one-owner new in box luggage for $2300 right before the prices went up. Definitely was a good buy (obviously). At the time $6500 was peak value but they hadn't gone on the BaT block stand alone yet. Since then people sell stand alone on BaT and now look at the prices. A set missing the dust bags or a piece of luggage will go for considerably less.

Five bag sets routinely sell for half the price of six. If you are buying a so-so condition set, make sure the price is reflective of that or it'll be ten years before you get what you put into it imo. The logical person would say sell the bags separate from the car for max ROI, but the car will sell a LOT easier with the bags, so that factors into consideration as well.

I even bought a single piece briefcase bag for a few hundred to keep as a "burner bag" for when I want to show off the luggage but not risk the mint set I have. Also a worthwhile investment. Regarding interior condition, imo that doesn't have as much to do with value. All of them, even unused bags like mine, have some degree of flaking on the inside.

Last consideration, my insurance won't insure the bags other than with the car. Kind of bizarre... State Farm

Generally, unused sets have flaking because they've been stored with the cardboard inserts inside.
Whatever comes in contact with the lining long term fuses to it.

    No inserts = no flaking.

My TR set had the inserts removed early on = no flaking.
F355 and later have a different lining which is less prone to disintegrating.

Most Bat sets are from local classifieds in Euro countries where the market is highly compartmentalized.

Many Euro sets sold on Bat are water and humidity damaged / stained / deformed because
they're stored in funny conditions. Batties will pay top $ for pretty much any condition.

Ditto for pretty much anything else, like the illuminated signs etc.

Simone is a great guy. The woman at the front desk and answers the phone speaks excellent English.
As good a friend as Simone has become I still cannot get him to redo the interior of our luggage.

Happy to be a contributor who helped drive prices sky high on luggage...

    Kidding, kinda.

    But honestly @vincenzo nailed it

It's a tedious, time consuming job, I had asked too in the past, no interest lol.

At this point the fragility of the interior is an attribute, a plus.

It would be worth less repaired.

That may be true but I actually use ours and the flaky rubber makes a mess of the clothes.

It does make a HUGE mess. Especially in the inner handles, they’re all curled and when you uncurl them the cracked bits explode in powdery awfulness.

It takes quite awhile but a plastic bondo trowel can scrape off the ****ty flaky rubber. I rate this task in the degrees of difficulty as 4 adult drinks per piece only if you work fast.

i put my clothes in plastic bags and then put them inside the flaking luggage.
as brian said, there is nothing more efficient for using the space available in a ferrari than the schedoni luggage.
luckily, since i used our cars as intended, i considered that we needed the bags, and bought them more/less when i bought the cars - ie a long time ago :)
