I was thinking of getting one. I never was one for watches, but I really like this one's design. Thoughts? Also, where is the best place to buy? I am looking at this combination of bezel/faceplate in this exact style: Image Unavailable, Please Login
I love them. I want the version with the brown leather strap and cream colored face. In any color combo I think that watch epitomizes the vintage racing look. Add some brown leather gloves, a scarf, goggles and you are off. - Chris
Nice, but TAG's have pretty bad reputations for not lasting long. I've got a broken one somewhere in a drawer that is not worth fixing...
They seem to average $1500-2200 or so. I joked with Ryalex I was looking into the "Volkswagen" of watches. (As he regards Rolexes as the 'BMW' of watches)
i wouldn't get this one, i'll get the "CARTIER MUST 21 CHRONOSCAPH" much better looking watch, and name, retail for $3k, used one sell for around $1.8k, i sold my to my borther for $1.5k, find a good cartier dealer they might give you a good discount, maybe 20% http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-CARTIER-MUST-21-CHRONOSCAPH-MENS-WATCH-W10125U2-NIB_W0QQitemZ5036583294QQcategoryZ31387QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I have that watch with a black face. It is a very heavy piece. Not in a bad way, it just takes a bit of getting used to. It is also very thick. The polished bezel is prone to scratching. I have a few scuffs on mine, but they don't look too bad. I am very happy with mine. It is a little bright without being too flashy. I wasn't looking for a new watch when I bought it and honestly I've never been a big fan of Tags. But, when I saw this one in the case, I really needed to have it.
Try these guys for purchase. Make sure they sell you one with the serial number on back. They have some BS policy of replacing the back without the serial number.(unless you push for it) My Tags have been pretty much problem free for over 10 years. http://www.worldofwatches.com/detail.asp?Sn=429547472&dept_id=120&pf_id=40069&pageno=3&special=&watchsp=
Auraptor, Look around the net. There're some similar looking watch available by IWC & Bvlgari. F-chat has a watch thread under Collectables, Literature, & Models, "Any Watch Lovers or Collectors here". There's some pics you may enjoy. Like Eric said, TAG tend to break down more. I also know 3 people whose TAG broke down after 3-5 years, and when I was comparing TAG divers watch to Omega SeaMaster at the store, the manager recommended Omega over TAG, too. JFYI. BUT buy what you really like. You may get lucky and never experience bad w/ TAG.
I'll answer that if I may... that would be a Girard Perregaux S.F. Foudroyante from the Pour Ferrari collection (in stainless - as the current models are gold - I prefer stainless anyways....) Sweet watch in my opinion... both the Tag and the Perregaux.
I like the look of your first pic. It reminds me of the Rolex Daytona, but for 10k less. If you are considering a Girard Perregaux, I would recommend it way more than the Tag. GP also made a Ferrari model that I love. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I've got an SE/L that works great. Other than the battery croaking after a year i've had no problems with it. The trick is to only use maxell batteries in it because other brands can pop open and leak which will kill your watch. I've never really heard of any other problems
My dive watch fogged up on a white water rafting trip. One of the few that I didn't fall out of the boat on, too! My sis is in the business, says they're crap. Her store dropped them because of too many having to go in for repairs...
This is about the only watch in the world that does anything for me. I'm such a ****. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Coincidentally, it also lowers your bank statement by about $170K. I'm with you on this though.. it's worth it. C. Image Unavailable, Please Login
