Cabriolet Motors Vin: ZFFEW58A050140587 I've new searching for a 360 for awhile. Been disappointed in the ones I have come across. Of course living in eastern nc, no cars are ever local. I came a across this f430 in Raleigh. Stopped in to see it last night after a day spectating at VIR. Car looks really good. Engine bay was spotless. Some road rash on the typical areas. Under front spoiler, inside wheel well. Driver's seat isn't perfect. Miles are 34,xxx. One accident listed on car fax. A PO backed the car too far in his garage and bent damaged bumper. Clutch is 90% replaced 4k miles back. Brake pads are new. (Not rotors like the ads say) it will need a service. Tires are 75% Questions I have yet to be answered: have the headers been replaced? Proof, as in pictures the accident was minor? Rotor thickness of the ccb. I'm not as familiar with the warranty campaigns for f430's. Any thing else I need to look for? Also my first thoughts were price was inline, any thoughts on that? They have rejected offers as high as 105k.
The vin indicates a very early 430 and there were many TSBs on these so have a dealer run the vin to see what has or hasn't been done. With that many miles, I would have to bet the headers have been replaced but there could be a question about if they are the latest parts or not. Doesn't the owner have answers to these questions? 105K sounds like a very fair offer. I wonder if it was real. Dave
Sounds like a nice car - get a test drive and a thorough PPI, but you already knew that. FWIW, I'd offer that the accident history will make the car pretty tough to sell to the next guy (but you already knew that too). If that matters to you, then move along... Other things to look for? How about the service records - are they thorough, complete, and according to the rules of the game?
Depends on the extent of the damage. If it was just the bumper and lights then no big deal. If the frame was bent then that's another story (I don't have access to the CarFax report). Alan
If they replaced the pads it means the car has either been driven very hard on the street or had a few track days. Keep in mind Ferrari recommends replacing the rotors every 2 sets of brake pads. So if you need to go to the third set of brake pads, you will be presented with a pretty large bill- if you won't drive the car really hard on the street frequently/ or if youll never go to the track it shouldn't be a concern. Btw- these cars can take being driven hard and in some respects thats a good thing because the motor etc really breaks in. But the consumables on a Ferrari are expensive. The rotors used to be eye wateringly expensive. I think they have come down in price but I bet they are still expensive.
I put my eyes on it. It's nice looking. However I've decided to pass. No record of any headers being installed on the car. Also, I really want a nero car. Thank you just the same!
I did not know it was recommended that to changed the rotors after a few pad replacements. I'm passing on the car, mainly because I want a nero car. I stopped by to look at it, and the fever begins to take hold... I did have the VIN number run and can not find any records of the headers being replaced. That could be a concern if anyone is looking at the car.
It was just the bumper. It was the 1st owner backed the car too far into his garage and crinkled the bumper. That's what I was told anyway..
Is this one too far to check out? Black gated manual 360. Has some "extra" stereo equipment etc, but might be a nice car. 2003 Ferrari 360 Modena , $75,987 - Cars.com
I've checked it out. 1 service record, dated 2008. He says he's changed the oil, but has no receipts.
Yes, I spoke with him. The car is listed at his friend's lot to generate hits. He is selling the car himself. Apparently he bought the car fairly new, like in 2006. Did one service on it in 2008, and the rest of the oil changes himself. Nice guy, but I can't imagine that car needed anything less then 15-20K worth of work. Brakes, Tires, clutch, full major service. Tie-rods? Who knows....
Wow, You sound like a serious shopper. So you like black, fastest color, I understand this but what else are you looking for? Coupe? Gated Manual? Extras? 430? 360?
black/black in your area. I have no association with FCI except that they maintain my 430. 2005 Ferrari F430 CT12500 - Foreign Cars Italia Good luck in your search.
Coupe MT if 360. Either in 430 If 360 must have challenge grill and I'm not fond of the starfish wheels 430's no options needed. I've been looking and have had several PPI's Done. I'm looking for the right car. It's hard not to let emotion take over! I've looked at the 2005 at FCI. Briefly spoke with them about. I'm waiting for them to give a little more room on the price. Challenge grill is not a big deal to add IMO. Providing the car was well maintained I actually think a non challenge grill could represent a more conservative owner which could be a good thing.
