Aside from its questionable appearance mods, which should easily be undone, what do you think of this super high (80k) mileage car? No service records aside from the Carfax, so I’d assume belts are overdue, and the clutch is on its last leg. However, it probably had to be pretty well maintained to get to this point! Worth taking a chance on at a low price?

Looks good in the pictures but as you likely know pictures can be deceiving. Rare and at least to me very desirable color combo. Figure having to spend to your point at least 20K on it to start for maintenance and repairs but then she’d likely be good to go for years to come.
Now with all of that said you’d be in it for at least 80K and if you check BAT you’d have more into it than many with 1/3 the miles go for that were just serviced for reference check out this auction same color combo https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2003-ferrari-360-modena-34/

I’ve never been a fan of that color. If it were silver black or red it would have already been gone

Colors are bleh. Get a PPI as best as possible with read on the clutch. Get general driving impressions as well...

Well that is half of what I have seen. There is a 160k+ mile 360 in GB used daily. So few people put real miles on these cars but those who do should be louder about it.

    It looks surprisingly good!

I don't know why you would need the "Ferrari" decals next to the fake shields... Leather needs attention. I would want to see it in person and drive it.

Good colors, rough leather. Like others said, assume you'll be chasing mechanical issues for a bit. The miles don't bother me, I have 120k on a 328.

Make sure you like it, though. You'll have a hard time selling it later.

like others said I kind of like the exterior color. The interior is needing some attention. I don’t understand the decals, but that could easily be removed. I have learned over the years that Ferrari is a reliable vehicle when taken care of and they do much better when they are driven. I would do some serious homework on the service history then make your decision. Good luck.!!

I don't know why so many people assume because its got 80k miles on it, its shagged and needs a third of its value spent on it.

If you like the colour and the car, go see it, have someone who knows these cars check it out, and you could have a car that's better than many teen miles clocked cars!

If it has been maintained properly, I wouldn't worry about buying a 360 with 80k on it. However, if there's no history how can you tell it's been maintained?

How long would you be planning to have it? If you do another say 3/3.5k per year, how might you fare selling it in 3 years time with 90k miles?

I think someone was worried that you wouldn't know it was a Ferrari :D

Doesn't look terrible, but the color is not everybody's first choice. Important to note that it's not just the "Ferrari" logo on the fenders that was tacked on, but it seems the Scuderia Ferrari shields were also added as they're not inset. This leads me to wonder if they were just placed on with just the double sided tape, or if the owner went all out and drilled the three holes to mount it as well.

Only thing I would worry about would be the F1 system. I say lowball them and get it for a steal. They've already lowered the price by $12k, they are ready to get rid of it.

Make sure the variators have been replaced.

Then take off that horrible Ferrari sticker on the fender.

I’ve been trying to, lol… but the sales people haven’t been very responsive. I’ve been in email communication with 2 different ones now, and I can’t get answers to basic questions such as does everything work, ac cold, how many keys, and if they’d be open to a 3rd party PPI. I’m still trying though. Maybe they think because I’m in Maryland and the cars in Kentucky that I’m not serious… who knows.

I think that is telling! Just imagine how responsive they’ll be once they get some/all your money!

That's the hardest part about getting a car like this. Dealers get so many tire kickers on exotics for people trying to find a way to make the numbers work. Best thing to do is not rely on email/text conversations as a lot of people use those as passive ways for shopping. Make sure you're getting someone on the phone and talking to them in real life.

That’s funny, I am in Maryland too. I had contacted them via the website email asking about records. They said they didn’t have any and that the price reflected that. I left it alone and watched them drop the price but then about a week later they contacted me asking if I wanted a video walk around or anything like that.
There was a red 360 with 50k miles that just sold that was listed for $68k, so $10k more. That one was red, had receipts for recent timing belt, clutch, steering rack, front end rebuild, and dash recovered. Seemed like a much better deal. However, I’m concerned if they keep lowering the price I’m going to have to drive to Kentucky

Lol. I got the walk around video… but no answers to my questions. I’m going to call the salesman this weekend. I have the truck and trailer ready. ;)

Even for the price, it’s worth it. 99’s don’t have any of that silly smog crap either. I’ve got 77,000 on mine and it runs excellent.

I’m so torn, and am trying not to make an emotional decision. I know there is no such thing as a cheap Ferrari. I texted the salesman and said I was going to pass at the current price. Just too many issues… lack of maintenance records, the mileage, and it’s rough around the edges. They sent me a picture of the frunk, and it was completely empty. No tools, no emergency tools, no spare, no fix a flat… nothing. The interior is rough… seats are a little worn, the dash is stretched, the heater knobs are broken (which they don’t appear to sell as a separate part) the door pull is hanging on the passenger side, and it has that emblem stuck on the dash. Now I’m not in Kentucky to actually drive it… so maybe it’s ok, but I don’t know. They also said they didn’t do any kind of inspection on it, so who knows what all it actually needs. Even if I spent all the money on deferred maintenance, I’d probably be in another 20k minimum (even doing most of the work myself!) and at tag point, I should’ve just bought a more sorted car with less mileage. It’d be hard for me to sell a 90-100k mile car in a few years I’d think. Damn rational decisions, lol.

Buy Ferrari stock with the money and/or look for a better example. You'll get a much better return on your money and sleep better at night.
