Looking for some opinions, and fresh eyeballs ... I have thick skin, so let er' buck. I am not crazy about the wheels, but that is an easy fix ...

These two ads represent the same car:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ferrari-430-2006-Ferrari-430-SPIDER-F1-PRIVATE-SALE-TUBI-Loade-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem4cf597e0e0QQitemZ330537885920QQptZUSQ5fCarsQ5fTrucks

    http://www.goxmotors.com/web/vehicle_photos/661369

    My thoughts:

*** Wheels are not my thing ... will need to replace (-1)
*** I consider 11,120 miles HIGH for this car, which affects value (-1)
    *** Red/Tan is only color I am considering (+1)
*** No Daytona seats in a bummer (-1)
*** Car has service paperwork, and up to date. Serviced by Ferrari of St. Louis (+1)
*** 80% clutch LEFT at 11k mi? Possible? Or did he misinterpret and is 20% left? (?)
    *** I don't like Runflat tires (-1)
    *** Tubi exhaust installed (+1)
*** 2 keys, manuals, car cover, tool kit (+1)

What is she worth? Yes, I know that is hard to predict without seeing the car, and a PPI is REQUIRED ... but i want your opinion. :) Assume the car checks out at PPI.

    Thanks is advance ...

The car has no Daytona seats which for many people is a big deal, so it impacts the value. The 80% clutch life seems a bit high for 11k miles, plus many say the tests are not accurate anyway.

Obviously dealers have offered him a bad number for the car so he is trying to sell it privately. My opinion on price, if the PPI checks out well, is $133-138k. This is just my best guess, but based upon a ton of my own research for a nice 2005 or 2006 F430 Spider.

By the way I don't like those wheels either.

Based on what is listed on autotrader right now, the price is not far off of others for offer. Miles are not high, unless you think a Ferrari is old at 10K, which is just not true.

If you are going to drive yours, it is going to go over 10K anyway. 2K a year is good for a Ferrari and this one has been used enough to have proved itself during the warranty period.

As stated many time here on FChat if you are worried about resale value, then do not buy one. It will stop you from driving it much and having the fun you truly deserve as an owner. It will be worth what it is worth when you are done and that is all there is to it.

I bought an 05 with 8400 Miles and the clutch showed 25% wear as an example. I only bout it 2 months ago and have 1K more on it and can hardly wait to pop the 10K cherry.

Worth getting a PPI and see what they will take. If you like it, then buy it.........Steve

    Here is one for comparison:

+1 lives in Scottsdale, great climate (my 360 lived most of its life in Scottsdale)

+10 you can get the PPI done there by Andy Falbo, a super guy.

    -1 (for me) F1

-1 agree on the wheels; get a set of CS wheels

    good luck!

No daytonas is a huge deal for resale. I looked at that car, instead I picked up a 7k red/tan spider with 6 speed, carbon fiber, daytonas, shields, etc. I got it with the factory wheels, all serviced.

If I were to buy this car I'd re-finish the wheels, and take off some for the mileage.. I think 142 sounds fair. I'd want new seats right away though, those seats suck bad...

Yep, agreed. I have met Andy and he is a great guy. He would definitely do the PPI if I move forward. To me ... this car is 130-135k range. Those wheels are a real individual taste thing, and I think ugly. So, I have to spend 3k for a set of 430 wheels. And I agree ... no daytona seats is a big deal. We'll see ... keep the opinions coming!

130-135 would be robbery I'm thinking for a red/tan .... don't think that's possible, but hey - if it is, good on the buyer!

One more thing, the two things that kept me away from this car was the lack of Daytonas and the lack of Carbon on the dash... that grey crap is kinda cheap.

This car was obviously as close to base as you can get.. a cheaper 430, but still a pretty nice car. The mileage doesn't scare me.

The owner stated that the clutch was replaced at 6,500 miles by St.Louis Ferrari, so it doesn't seem that having 80% remaining is far fetched.

Guys correct me if I'm wrong, but those are stock wheels that were powder coated. You should be able to get them to original specs for for $150 a wheel.

They are the stock wheels. My guess is that the 150 a wheel is a good guess for the transition back to factory look.

As for the seats, my 07 has the same ones, and if I had the Daytonas it wouldn't matter because I keep the seat covers on the entire time. For some it is a huge deal.

11k miles high!!! I have 19k miles and people I run with on the streets consider that I never drive the car, for most it's practically a garage queen with that mileage. These are new Ferraris and not classic ones with obsolete parts or prices reaching for Mars, these are bread and butter cars that will go down in value driven or not. Buy one, maintain it and enjoy stocking miles on, its the only thing they are meant for.

Does he really have $25K in reciets on this car??? Seems high to me. The interior does look cheap with the standard seats and no carbon. The wheels are just too pimpin...they need to be decolored. I would say $130k if the ppi checks out. Othewise I would wait to you find the exact car you want for the right price. They are out there and getting cheaper everyday. I am several years away from buying another Ferrari do to being tapped out from several investements at this time. However, if 430 spiders drop to the price I paid for my 2006 carrera S cab $92k, then I am in immediately. Will this happen in the next 4-5 years or at any point??? I doubt it , but no one knows the future 100%.

Nice basic Spider that will look much better with some silver paint in the right places and paint remover on the wheels bolts. Since it is such a basic car (almost looks like shields were the only option), it may be avaialable at a discounted price. You can always contact the owner directly and ask. Daytona inserts can be added later if it really bothers you.

Please forgive the newbie question, but what's so great about the Daytona seats? Is it just an appearance thing or are they better in some other ways? I'm surprised by the amount of passion for what appear to be very similar seats.

I know the Daytona seats are beautiful, and LOOk a lot better. But are they more comfortable/adjustable? That is a good question, Scott. To me, the "non-Daytona's" look cheaper, and I have had more than one person tell me that they wear faster.

    Feedback from actual owners?

I love how the guys who don't own a Ferrari have something to say about what THEY think it's worth. Who says the cars have been dropping in price? My research shows an increase in price. Sports cars always cost more spring/summer.

Here's an example: 2006 spider blk/blk with 8k miles just sold at auction for 147k in phoenix! I mean what is it worth retail?
You should get what you want, but it looks like you want to get it on the cheap. You want the options, pony up the cash. Can't have your cake and eat it too.

Buyers rather than owners may actually be in a better position to determine pricing.

That and it if was left for only owners to say what the car was worth, then every F430 would be worth $200k. The aspiring owners are the ones browsing the ads daily, calling and negotiating with dealers and private sellers. They see which cars actually sell and for what price.

Listing price on these cars is almost meaningless. Some prices are just stupid high and the cars have been sitting for over a year, like a lot of 08 F430's being priced the same as lower mile 09 Scuds.

Your missing the point. There' a difference between aspiring owners and dreamers.

All I'm saying is, the guys that think they can buy that car for sub 140k are the guys that won't be owning one anytime soon. Wholesale vehicles are documented sales figures. That car is priced right. Good luck.

Easy Stefanovich ... everyone is entitled to an opinion - not just "owners". In fact, 6 cars recently sold at Manheim (all 2006 F430 Spiders) ... average sales price 134,500. High of 147k, and low of 120k. The data is on this board from testdrv321 ... check it out. And, I can assure you ... I am not part of the dreamer status ... cash buyer ... actively looking for a car.

Listen, it is obvious that this is your car ... which is fine. But it is a BASE level 430 ... with undesireable (in my opinion) wheels, no Daytona Seats, and 11k+ miles. If you are going to come on and defend your car, at least come clean and admit it is your car. In your first post in this thread, you weren't very open about that fact.

    Adios.

Even with the auction data I posted, I do have to say, I don't know if you are going to be able to get the car for under $140k. $130k is simply not going to happen unless there is something very wrong with it. $140-145 is current market IMO.

As one with 15K miles on my 07 Spider I would not have any problem with those miles. I think the main thing about this car is it comes with all the records and no stories. That has to be worth at least $10K over an auction car or from a dealer with no history
