I know the history of how the Daytona was unofficially named after the race wins but if this is the last of the pure IC engine, wouldn’t that have been a great tribute? Plus, the rear side styling is clearly an homage to it. 812 Daytona sounds soooo nice, imho. I am sure someone here knows why the haven’t used it.

Maybe because, as you stated, it was an unofficial name, like a nick-name. Officially, it was the 365GTB/4.

If they release an 812vs it would take the last of title (assuming none other later) and still need a name. TDF name is out so who knows. Lucca said the last one would be legendary which by nearly all accounts is not the current 812sf so even though he is gone there is a huge opportunity for Ferrari to do something outrageous, beautiful and exclusive.

Love the line from top gear when Matt L says calling the 812 a super fast is like naming your dog, dog.

Isn’t that what they always do? The 458 Italy, the 360 Birmingham (industrial city near where I live), 488 Big Road Trip with little room, Red Heads.... There were two famous footballers who played for Manchester United called Gary and Phil Neville. Their dad was named Neville. Maybe he had something to do with the La Ferrari name!

Isn’t it just that Italian words sound exotic to us, perhaps English words sound a little ‘exotic’ to Italians? Which means that to the people who named the car, Superfast could be the most daring and imaginative name of them all! Maybe.

Why would they name it Daytona? Because there was a silly rumour on fchat?
Superfast is both an historic name and factually accurate regarding the car itself.

Not sure about the comment around fchat as the car has already been named. Appreciate that superfast is historical and thus has logic but surprised they haven’t revived Daytona given some of the historic names used. Also, the rear quarter panels are clearly an homage to the Daytona (I believe Ferrari has even said as much). I just think it’s a great name and would love to see it used again.

Daytona was never an official name though.

The Monza name hasn't been used for more than half a century. That would be a great name for a track version. A proper Italian track and name!!!
