    Hello all,

The past three times I have gone out to get in my 1999 360, I have had trouble. As soon as I hit the unlock button on the remote, the car beeps twice as normal then the drivers side door locks back and will not allow me to open the door. I have to manually use the key about three times (back n forth--the window goes down as normal) to open the door--but once I do that the alarm goes off.

Tonight, it did the same thing but I grabbed the door before it re-locked and got in--is something wrong with the locking mechanism or is that letting me know my fob battery is getting weak?

The car has been flawless and has had no issues until this weeks unlocking spat--I also noticed when I started the engine, it spit and sputtered for a few seconds showing the ASR where the "check OK" light is then cut off--I restarted and it was perfect.

Thanks for your thoughts--I really enjoy this forum!

What happens to the passenger side?

Could the lock cable is getting jammed? Lift up the arm rest from the rear and watch it lock and unlock. Maybe something is binding.

+1. Sounds like the lock arm needs an adjustment (barrel under the arm rest) or maybe a cable is partially siezed within the door, which will require removal of the trim.

Thank you for the advice--I will take a look at the cables. I hope the problem does not lie in the door panel.

Don't worry the door panels are easy to remove if you have to, especially the driver's side.

I had a door lock problem where I had to use the key and it was a dreaded "module"problem. Fortunately, I was still under warrantee. Good luck.
