As we know Ferrari 275 GTS was introduced in 1964 at Paris Motor Show. And in the middle of 1965 concurrently both the 275 GTS and 330 GT 2+2 had their eleven louvre front wing exhaust air vents replaced by a triple louvre design.
But there is a problem in it identification. The only Ferrari 275 GTS with 11-louvre I’ve ever seen was only at GT 275 GTS: flexibility, for specific type of clientele, in 1964. More over as we can see at 275 GTS Part 1 - Index all early Ferrari 275 GTS that have photos have 3-louvres.
In this case there is a question. How can I identify 275 GTS, made before restyling, and how many of these cars were made (LHD and RHD)?
    Thanks!

Good Question! We know that the “prototype” (S/N 6001) had the older 4-3-4 inverted louvers. The yellow car pictured as S/N 6001 in "Part 1 of 4 Register" shows that configuration, although I have always thought that the first “prototype” was originally finished in Rosso. Page 49 of Jess Pourret’s book on the 275 series (published in French) shows three photos which he designates as the 1964 prototype, with the 3-4-3 louvers clearly evident, and though the photos are in black and white, the car’s color is clearly not as light as would be the "yellow" in the Register photo. So has S/N 6001 been repainted yellow? If so, c'est tres dommage!

The photo in the Register for S/N 6461 shows that it has the newer three large vents in one frame set into the fender. The Fitzgerald/Merritt book, on Page 169, tells us that these new-style outlets were first exhibited at the Geneva show in 1965. So S/N 6461 may be the Geneva Show car—I cannot confirm this from any of my literature? Perhaps someone else could comment?

But there is definitely a right hand drive (“RHD”) 275-GTS pictured in many publications with the 4-3-4 louver setup, so examining the Register, that car is likely S/N 6417. Perhaps someone could confirm this?

So that leaves the three so-named “Prototypes” shown in the Register (S/N’s 6001, 6005 and 6315) as likely having the 4-3-4 louvers, together with the RHD S/N 6417, or a total of only 4 cars so configured.

I owned S/N 6805, the Brussels show car, for 16 years from 1969 through 1984, and it had the three-vent configuration (and an unusually brilliant-colored red paint finish, which is another long story).
