This shade works well with the 12C! Thanks for posting this picture from an overtop perspective Rosso Imola? Would love to see a 12 Cil spider in this color!
Yes I believe it is Rosso Imola as the alternative launch color to the more plentiful Giallo Montecarlo. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks for the nice pictures. Do you recall if the rims were Shiny silver (lucido) or the matte gray/ Matt Grigio? Which rims did you prefer? The forged modern looking design or these more traditional. Andrea M the lead designer said that these cast standard wheels reference the “cut off” design detail on the side panels and the humps of the hardtop capote.
The cast wheel visually is a very weak design. Even the base wheel featured on the 458 Italia in 2010 was much more interesting. The forged modern looking wheel design is far superior; especially in the way that it compliments the 12 Cilindri bodywork perfectly. Together they create a cohesive modern 'look' that the base wheel fails to deliver on. With all that said, some will simply prefer the look of the base wheel. Whatever makes you happy! Thank you. The wheels on the blue 12C are matt (possibly Grigio Corsa), and the ones on the Rosso Dino are glossy (possibly Grigio Silverstone, a bit darker). Regarding the wheel options, I much prefer the cast, more traditional, more "Ferrari-like" IMO. By the way, the blue one I thought was Blu Le Mans, I think is "Blu Tour de France 70".
Thanks for the thoughtful and well written analysis. My first impression was like yours, to prefer the forged wheel much more. But I did struggle to love the design of the 12 C. I actually initially thought the coupe, not the spider, was the better looking design I found myself looking at the wheel as a way to make the car look nicer! Thats a big ask for the rim design. So after choosing the forged rim design for the 12 coupe, I had second thoughts. Maybe I should get the 12 spider instead. And maybe the forged rims made for an overly stylized visual look? I began to appreciate the simpler look of the cast rims. I also wondered why the Ferrari design team chose the cast rims for all the demo/press spiders. Maybe the designers felt that the more futuristic delta wing and zig zag roof design of the coupe benefited with pairing the modern design of the forged rims. And that the 12 spider was less modern looking and the cast rims were the better pairing. So it is nice to see pictures of the coupe wearing both rim styles. Since there is probably 7-13 months before production may begin, I have plenty of time to change my spec. Still waiting to see some good pictures of the 12 spider ( not covered in distracting camo stickers) wearing forged rims.
Good observations regarding how the wheels fit with a coupe or spider. As I noted before Ferrari is educating us with their design choices. And the whole idea of the 'launch specification' is to present each new model in a positive light. There is also a trend where customers order that launch specification because it is something initially at least that they can't have. By choosing the launch specification they are getting their own 'show car' so to speak. The different wheel designs need to be shown and just like the launch color the wheels are part of that specific look they are trying to achieve. I can't understate the importance Ferrari management place on how a new model looks when it is presented. Another good example is going back to the F12 tdF introduction where in simplest terms they presented a red car and a yellow car. Fast forward to the newest F80 and they repeat their launch specification with a red car and a yellow car. Coincidentally the 458 Italia introduction was also shown as a red car and a yellow car. When in doubt they revert to the old favorite colors. Two exceptions were the white car used to introduce the vastly different 599 GTO and the GTC4Lusso. Color is a critical component of the 'look' Ferrari represents. The wheel choice by extension is just a further refinement of that look. The F80 was also shown with two different wheel styles; depending on which color the car was painted.
From the top-view, I see how the design of the hood vents echo the design of the rear roof 's Zig Zag/ Delta wing.
N Image Unavailable, Please Login For the F8 the color is a nice pairing And it was at no extra cost, unlike the C12 where, with tax, it’s $15,000. And not only me but everywhere I go people tell me how much they love the color and many take pictures I’ve seen some of these more rare unique and more expensive colors . Personally always sold on their superiority in terms of aesthetic So I am contemplating a solve cs a black 12C spider If I went silver I’d go with Argento N. I own a Silver Argento
Argento Nurburgring is always a great choice. Aluminum Lucido (or Glossy Aluminum) is a special 2-layer color, a bit more grayish than Argento N, but still silver. Below, the sticker and plate of the 12C that I posted. Interestingly, on the sticker the color is in Italian (Aluminum Lucido), and on the spec plate it is in English (Glossy Aluminum). From this pic the 12C front end looks dam good against the 812C especially on front wheel arches just from my eyes point of view
