Guys, I need a little input here from The Brotherhood on a dumb 348 spare parts question:

Let's say I have three sets of 348 seats: a set of perfect tan regular seats, a set of red alcantara SS carbon-kevlar seats, and set of OMP Challenge seats. I don't need three sets of seats. The Challenge seats would absolutely not be for sale so the question is should I sell the carbon-kevlar SS seats or the tan original seats?

I am leaning strongly to parting with the regular seats but the problem is that the tan seats would be the original seats to the 348 in question but really can be interchanged with the much nicer, much better, and much more special SS seats while keeping the stock seat belts.

While I can make room for two spare seat sets, because of all the other heaps of spare parts I keep around, it would make my life easier to sell one set. So while it's ridiculous to sell those carbon kevlar seats as they're so hard to come by, especially in this perfect shape, would I be making a mistake to sell the tan seats that are original to the car?

Sell the tan seats, install the SS seats for yourself, keep the Challenge seats as collectibles. The next guy can always buy another set of standard seats on ebay.

I wouldn't sell any, but if you have to, sell the stockers. Or, ship them to me and I will store them for you. I've got room.

Well that's sort of the issue. There's not going to be a "next guy." This car will most likely belong to my kids when I'm long gone.

Well, this started out so tempting. Thinking back, the last time I got tempted on this site I wound up with a set of OEM Ferrari Competizione wheels for my 348. :)

Yup. Right up to the point when I see a couple of homeless vets sunning themselves while sitting in my seats. :D

I had two sets. I never heard back from you and the first set sold in like two hours for $9500.

EDIT: I just saw that you did reply a few days later on 5/22. Sorry that I never saw it but I just responded.

Why on earth would you even consider getting shot of the original kit from the car, in particular the seats. If as you say the car will go to your kids, so is a keeper, it makes it even more bizzare to me, surely they'd at least benefit from the opportunity to marry up its 'original' seats (so not another random set of them from EBay that were once in a car 'like' yours).

"There's not going to be a "next guy." This car will most likely belong to my kids when I'm long gone."

Each to their own I suppose and there's never any accounting for how some people's minds work? For me, by all means fit other stuff to get it how you like it in your period of use, but to sell on the original seats....really?

Sorry if I seem blunt, not intended, it's just the thought is really annoying, like those who sell on their cars but e.g. hold back the tool kits etc only to sell on separately for a few bucks later.

Just my view and no offence intended at all, you have put the question out there for other views

Well, since you brought it up, here are the reasons:

348 factory challenge cars came with TWO sets of seats original to the car: stock and challenge. Consequently, I will always have the challenge set. I also have some F40 seats which are like the SS seats but nicer. The stock seats will never be used. I don't know about you but I only have one ass and can only use one set of seats at a time.

I believe in keeping spares but three sets of seats for one car seems a touch excessive. Plus I have a whole room full of spares: spare F40 body parts, suspension parts, 4 sets of wheels, 550 maranello spare parts including wheels and suspension parts, plus spares for all my other cars. An extra set of seats that I will never use is particularly cumbersome and stock 348 seats just don't seem like anything too rare or valuable.
