I’ve been tracking or racing Ferraris for 14-years now and I’ve learned that your day at the track can go from fantastic to devastating in a matter of minutes depending on how the car is doing. I had one of these experiences at my most recent track weekend at VIR and I wanted to share my story.

On day one of a two-day event I started to have the familiar ‘Slow Down’ warning that we’ve all seen before. It turns out that my temperature probe was reporting high exhaust temperatures on one bank and it was shutting the bank down. This happened over and over and I was losing track time left and right. I was at a loss because I didn’t have the equipment to diagnose the problem and I was ready to pack up and go home early.

I was lucky that some great guys from Independent Ferrari Service (South Easton, MA) were also at the event and they were able to use their skills and tools to help me diagnose my problem and get me back on track. The owner of Independent Ferrari Service, John Tirrell and his expert technician Ben were able use their SD3 device to track down my problem and recommend a solution that would get me through the weekend. It turned out to be a faulty temperature probe. I can’t thank them enough for their time and assistance. They’re also really nice guys. Go Team Pilota!

In addition to the help from John and Ben, I’ve had relationship with Ferrari of Washington for 14-years and I’ve bought all of my cars from them over the years. Arnie Poundstone is another expert that’s been a tremendous help and support mechanism to me. I would trust Arnie with any problem I might have. He's become a real friend.

Finally, I’ve recently gotten to know Andrea Taurino over the last 6-months as I’ve been making various upgrades to my car. He and his staff have been very helpful and I’m glad I’ve gotten to know them.

There are so many other great Ferrari service organizations out there but I just wanted to share my personal experience. A have a tremendous amount of respect and appreciation for each of the individuals and organizations I've described above.

I'll second a strong recommendation for Arnie at FoW. He's worked on my 360CH with excellent results. Great guy and very knowledgeable. A tremendous resource in the Mid-Atlantic region.
