In sport mode my old 575 used to blip its throttle when changing down. With the X-OST exhaust system it sounded really nice, gave me hours of pleasure.

In the same mode, infact any mode my 599 doesn't do it, well it does but it is hardly discernable and i wondered why. It shifts gears much faster so i have always thought to myself, "perhaps it doesn't time" but i was at a GT3 street race here in Baku where i live and work at the weekend and noticed that all the cars racing blipped their throttles on the way down the box and they must have similar modern day double clutch transmissions.

No problem double de clutching on a manual box but where is the blip on the 599?

Can't be me can it. Been driving it for 3 years!

The 599 produces rev-matching downshifts in all modes.

I believe the solution to your problems is to put a louder exhaust on your car :D

That being said, I find that 599's throttle blip is extremely clear even on the stock exhaust. I can hear it even if I brake and let the car auto-downshift for me.

Caspian- When you downshifted in your 575M with aftermarket exhaust, cool air mixes with hot exhaust gasses in the partial vacuum formed by letting up on the throttle to downshift. On your 599, as soon as you let off the throttle, the exhaust bypass valves slam shut, stifleing the lovely noise unless you are up around 5-6000 rpm. You have fail open bypass valves on your 599, and simply plugging the individual vaccum lines to the pneumatic valves will restore the overrun popping and burbling. Alternatively, you can fit a Capristo switch to the bypass solenoid, which will allow you to select whether the valves are open or controlled by the Motronic ECU. Handy for long cruises.
