Thanks Dale. I was wondering because the 355's use individual tb's and the '95s are running the 2.7 Motronics. So I thought maybe he had swapped the ecu's from a 355 into his car to run it.

I bet he is really going to put the beating on the other cars now. Hahahaaa. Can you imagine having your arse handed to you by a 348 after you just spent the queens quid to buy a 430. LOL!

    I am awestruck. Just beautiful.

Where'd you get the shock tower support? Feel a difference?

Thanks for the info. While I say Andy's is my favorite 348, yours is still the cleanest!

First off bad arse bad arse bad arse!

Secondly I am thinking the same thing as plugzit...that shock tower brace is interesting and I am wondering if it as any effect. I would think it would make the backend more skittish but then again am not sure.

Thirdly out of morbid curiosity Paul are you going to offer the machining up to interested parties? What all had to be done to the manifold?

Fouth Andy will you send me your address as I still owe you for my fog light from last year and it seems my PM's to you do not work or fall off into oblivion.

fifthly what airbox are you using? Your not just sucking in hot engine air are you? I would imagine you can fab something pretty easy to make the existing side intakes form into a box that is then sealed by the shutting of the top.

:) Already had that conversation with the Honorable Paul Hill this morning. We were trying to figure out how much inbound air vs. hot air suction might occur normally in a 348 engine compartment. I'm thinking that a snorkel might work well -- don't some Diablo SV's have something similar on the roof?

Yep the SV's have some goofy thing on the roof BUT it takes away all your rear vision. I would think it would be cooler (personally) and easier to build a intake box to feed the filters Andy already has that basically pulls air from the regular intake areas behind the window into a box that basically frames in the new intake. Then the top of the box would hookup with the lid and have a rubber gasket that then seals up the unit.

The trick would be getting the box size correctly to flow maintain enough air in it to satisfy the engine.

Man I am so jealous of your car!

My lord! That is a beautiful work of art! Andy where did that CF strut brace comes from & does it fit our normal 348 with the airbox there? I was pondering on TBs on my 911 & was thinking about it for my 348 & you've done it! Please give us more pictures & tell us more about the set-up. Thank you.

    Outstanding intake improvement!

Please tell us about your new Quantum shocks. Do they require modifications to work on the 348?

    Are they reasonably priced?

I see Andy at Snetterton last July, I was in a friends 355 which was the fastest of the day at the woodbridge speed run in its class, and Andys 348 ran rings round me, that car is so fast (and awesome sounding), I can't wait to see it in its new engine form ;-)

Beautiful setup! Where are you getting airflow readings to pass to the ECU? I don't see anything like a MAF in the pics. Is it a throttle plate?

Hi Dale - yes I know, lived in Sutton coldfield for 15 years until recently....

Interested about manifolds now, when I went to taper TB's on the westfield the change in engine charicteristics was phenominal, if I can get a manifold set together then the 328 might have to go the same way...

If the price was right I would buy it in a second....what Andy says he has in it is reasonable. Screw my turbo dreams this would rule!

Andy, the torque increase is just awesome, and to me at least, the most interesting. When you get time, can you post some more technical info for those of us who wish to follow in your footsteps? Thanks, Dave

Thankyou very much for you kind comments i will try to answer all the question if i can.

The air boxs are K & N universal high flow air box, mine are 62mm high 150mm wide and 450mm long and are rated at 265bhp each one you can get differant sizes from 50mm up to 100mm high the biggest rates at 500bhp,they hardly make a differance to the noise the bodies make either, which it great. i ran the car for 40 miles without filters and you wouldnt believe how dirty the inlets were,so had to come up with this idea in 2 days.

There is no reason to supply cold air unless you are trying to squezz every last horsepower out of the engine, im not i just wanted the engine to breath easyly, and not like its had a blocked nose since it was born.

The airflow meters have gone as everything is now run by the throttle position sensor, which is great for making power but not that good for mapping cold start and warm starts but it all worked out and i cannot find a down side to anything yet.

You would not believe how much stuff came out, and how little went back in,it would be harder for the latter engines that have a 2.7 montronic as the are a lot more bit to re engineer, like the vacume for the brakes, the 2.5 are fed from the ABS pump.

The strutt brace is supplied by Cusco they make a lot of stuff for Jap car, and i got this one because the brackets were good for cutting and fitting, its not carbon fiber its just got carbon stickey plastic on it.

The suspention is the nuts, fully adjustable for track or road, as they are valved you just need a allen key and 5 minuites, half a turn makes a massive differane.
They are a stright swap for the originals, the old ones are harder to get out than fitting the new ones.
Quantum is owned by an F Chatter who has a lot of raceing experiance F1 included, its up to him if he wants me to name him i will call him later.

I went to the track yesterday and did a 300 mile round trip, the car did everything right, cruzed, sat in tons of stopped trafic, went fast, went very fast, temp, pressure everything was great, But no bloodey tracktime as it was raining all day,and i had cut slicks on that are more slick than cut, a few accidants made my diccision not to go out right, ive spent 5 months doing work and that was not going to be ruined by a couple of laps on a wet track.
The car is now filthy dirty and needs some loving, but it was nice to get out and drive.

    Andy.

My son took these pictures minutes after it crashed, in fact we have the whole crash on video:( Right place at the right time, cant be said for the 355:(
Yea, Doninngton is a nasty track in the wet, but on a light note it can be masterd. If you can remember in the early 90s Senna fought from the middle of the pack and went on to win the British GP....in the wet;)
