Wow! with all of these induction facts and figures and air flow numbers flying around. I am so suprised that theres only been Andyhls that has put down his pen and graph paper and done an actual induction conversion. And from what i have seen with my own eyes its a fantastic job:) Looking forward to seeing other real actual conversions that may be in the pipe lines;)

If I win the lottery I will be happy to stop figuring and start implementing. :)

I believe the NV memory in the unit lasts for about 10 years but replacements are cheap and you can make as many backups as you like.

I'm a software developer by trade and I'm doing the project because I want to learn more about Electronics and EFI. Outside of that, the reason I give the wife is that it will make her Elan run much better. ;) *cough* Which it will of course. Been interested in it for years but never had the right car to fiddle with until now, the twin cam crossflow engine is perfect for an EFI conversion. My next job after this is to MS my Supercharged MG C GT.

Cost wise, I'm not sure in the USA. It cost me about £270 for a complete kit including MS1/V3, the stimulator board and the relay board. There is a company selling complete kits or assembled MS units.

I'm running a Distributor-less wasted spark ignition using a crankshaft trigger wheel and a brace of Weber DCOE style throttle bodies - Jenvey. I'm not doing this on the cheap, I could and use Bike throttle bodies but I have a decent budget for this so prefer some quality components. At the moment I'm doing the fuel system as of course the old girl isn't designed for High pressure EFI so there are a few changes to be made there before anything else is done.

Will try to run a MAP sensor configuration with a IACV for the winter months. Alpha-N is by far the simplest setup and is great for power applications but this car will be for the wife so I want daily driver reliability more than power. Alpha-N supposedly is ok even in the cold but I want to see if I can get an IACV working in the mix just to complicate matters. ;) A MS will easily run a setup like Andy has on his 348 but to be honest I'm not sure I would want to muck around with a Ferrari as a test bed for a MS!!!! Maybe after I have built 10 MS units I'd consider it. ;)

Go to http://www.msefi.com for more info on MS.

This might be geting a bit off topic, but personally I wouldn't put a MS on a ferrari....it does a lot for the money, but you get what you pay for. The MS only has about 1/4 the number of map points of the, so it doesn't have the fine tuning resulution of other units. Also the processor is pretty slow by comparison, not a problem in 5th gear, but it can be a problem in 1st where the engine builds revs quickly. For a distributor-less set-up you need to a separate ford controler which requires a ford 36-1 crank trigger, you can't use the OEM trigger. The MS seems on par with a haltech I messed with 15+ years ago. For a 4 cyl it's probably fine, but I wouldn't mess with it on fast and high revving 8. JMO.

    MkE,

I do not understand all this sampling stuff. Many ECU makers motec, haltech, electromotive talk about sampling rates and say their units work better than others. No on seems to speak the same lnaguage. Can you post a quick primer on what you want to see in an ECU specifically in regards to its sampling. These guys mix terms like Kw vs. hp vs newtons so you can't compare. I need the conversion factors...do you know what I mean?
