Arrrrggghhhhh...my throttle cable broke just after leaving the Italian Concours today in Des Moines, WA. Was just getting onto I-5 North back to Seattle and all of the sudden the accelerator dropped to the floor and I lost RPMs. Luckily I was caravaning back with Scott.Mac and we wrenched on it for a bit to try to adjust it before the cable finally let go. We jury rigged up a throttle cable to use by hand through the window but I ended up not liking that idea given I was 20 miles from home. Ended up getting towed back. :(

That said, glad to iron out some of the kinks on my new Dino before heading out to the Red Rock Rallye later in Sept!

    Thanks Scott!

The break was not in the rear where we could see and since the pedal tension feel kept changing I'll guess the break was near the pedal, but that is only a guess for now.

The failure happened in two stages, first a 2" of slackening, then the full break.
At first we worked on adjusting it, but there was a feeling that it had just jumped a pulley to get the 2" of slack. When we tightened it down, it then let go completely and we were trying to remember Corbani's manual method to limp home. I was actually looking for your phone number to call your advice, but realized I don't have it. We had received concours badges with nylon neck lines and strung three neck lines together but it would have been too tricky - plus the Labor Day traffic would have added an extra complexity to our safety.

Ferrari of Seattle fit me in this week and fixed the throttle cable and a few other minor things and we should be good to go. Thanks guys! I have a list of a few things that need replacing after the Rallye (coolant hoses in particular).

Now it is Salt Lake City or bust! Mary and I head out tonight from Seattle and hope to arrive by Sunday afternoon. I fly back Sunday night. Then it is two weeks before the Red Rock begins.

We made it to Salt Lake City yesterday with only a single casualty: Mary yanked on the door handle which was locked and it broke. It lasted about 36 hours since when I had it fixed! ;)

It was a long drive, but we had the windows down enjoying the Summer. We waved at a Porsche 356 passing by and ended up caravaning 20 or so miles outside of Salt Lake, otherwise didn't see any interesting cars on the way down (in fact there was hardly anyone on the road for most of the drive except truckers).

I'm still trying to track down a few spare parts (most based on what I know I probably need to replace at some point): full set of spare fuel lines (cracking and need replacing anyway), spare coil, one set of points (looks to be w/ original DinoPlex).
