Hi Can the throttle cable of a gt4 used on the 308gtb as I had ordered the cable for the 308gtb from superformance.co.uk but instead they have sent the cable of a gt4.
I see the parts books showing Ferrari part number 105574 for a GT4 throttle cable, and assuming that your GTB is carb-ed, I see Ferrari part number 106492 for the throttle cable. With that being said, I do not believe they are the same cable. I don't think it will work right!
Different wheel base ---> different distance between engine and pedal board ---> different length of throttle cable. Best Regards from Germany Martin
Thanks Will try to send it back but not sure how it is going to work out as I have to ship it from India to the UK .Superformance should not have done such a mistake after giving them all the details and part number.They should have double checked as it was an overseas order.
Telephone them George, the cost of returning the cable from India is a lot. They have always been helpful - I too live a long way from them!. Good luck. Rampa.
Don't panic. My experiences with SF have been fantastic. Customer service they provide will keep me coming back. They might just send you the right part, and tell you to toss the one you have if shipping is really bad. I had wrong bushings sent, and they just asked for an email pic to confirm, and they took excellent care of the matter. I'd like to add that mistakes have been rare. I recall once in ~20 yrs.
Very disappointed with superformance service. In spite of their careless mistake on their website they have charged me additional courier charges and they have cunningly corrected the flaw in their website which I had pointed out. Ended up spending 200£ for a 30£ part. Will never buy from superformance.co.uk again. BAD.
When they shipped me incorrectly machined brake hoses they insisted I pay return shipping form the States. It wouldn't have been worth it so they went in the trash. I reordered the parts from GT in Arizona. Superformance has been useful through the years but I now factor this experience into the math before I order parts from them. Tom
Like already menioned elsewhere by me several times. There's an 'old' and a 'new' Superformance. There's a whole new staff since a few years and the original founder passed away some years ago. The good ol' Mike Elliott-times are long gone. It still makes me smile, thinking back to the year '96, when he answered me technical questions via fax (!) message on a Saturday evening. BTW; throttle cables are readily available from FerrariUK for instance. Cost me EUR 60,-- and I got the correct one straightaway. Together with the clutch cable. But buy cheap, buy twice. I broke my throttle cable on my holiday in Austria. Also a 308 GTB I called with Superformance the same day ( a Saterday, afternoon, and received the new correct cable within the promised 48 hours after shipment. Excellent service, again.
I have ordered thousands of dollars worth of parts from them.....and the only mistake they made was poorly packing a rearview mirror. I sent them a picture of the mirror and the packing and they promptly replaced it. I think over a time the math works for doing business with them. Within reason they just write the part off and move on. I will say on parts coming from England, most shippers use the USPS in the US for the last leg of the delivery process and tracking is poor. I did lose a Caterham axle that way.
Sent a email to superformance and immediately I got a response from Ms Chloe DiChiara apologising for their mistake and they have refunded the courier charges . Great service. Sorry for the bad review that I had posted earlier
