I had my 2006 430 F1 in for service (an engine light problem) and now the car lags when you hit the accelarator and the whole exhaust tone sounds different. They told me some of ther computer memory was lost and the car will self program itself after a couple hundred miles. Does this make sense? I can't see how the performance will improve by just driving it...Thanks in advance for you help...

I know they have to reboot after a power interuption, but I thought it would happen with 15 minutes of idling or so. My 430 had the power interupted once but I never experienced the problems you have. It's my understanding the F1 trans also has to reboot, but my car is a stick. This does not sound right to me.

I'm not sure if the 430 will "reboot" itself with all the current version of high tech electronics onboard. The earlier cars (like a 355) would "reboot" after a power interruption or dead battery if you turned off absolutely every accessory, heater or A/C. Then start the car WITHOUT touching the accelerator or anything else and let it idle for about 10 minutes. Supposedly self-diagnostics would re-learn all the necessary parameters.

The vehicle needs to relearn the throttle adaptations after a reset. This will happen automatically. Drive it normally for a few days and if the problem persists, revisit your dealer.

That's what I've been doing and it's actually starting to feel normal, thanks for your reply....

Who ever serviced the car should have done this procedure for you and test driven. An engine light problem?? What specifically?

letting the car idle for for 15 minutes isn't the correct way to relearn 430. to relearn it just switch the ign on for 30 secs (without starting engine). 430 are now starting to break exhaust manifolds similar to the way 355's would have. please ensure that these are good, (you'll not be able to see anything as they are double skinned and break internally). return your car to the dealer if not happy and insist they recheck it. is this car a coupe or spider?

there is also truth in the fact that driving it for a while will help... but it needs to be a constant drive to the best of my knowledge.
