Removed the shaft and brass throttle plate 1985 QV for refinishing and cleanup of linkage. The 2 aluminum screws holding the throttle plate to the shaft were staked so I had to grind the ends off. Has anyone tried to replace them? I thought of putting the originals back with some red Loctite, but was not sure if that is the only way to go. I do not want the engine to swallow a screw later.

I have a bunch of spare ones, if you need them.

An old ferrari wrench tought me a nice trick. Rather than staking them (ie, hitting them on the ends with a punch), use a big pair of channel locks and compress the screw with some good force so it deforms the end of the screw. Works like charm, and you never touch or subject the plates or the shaft to any force whatsoever.
