    Hi all,
I have a 1980 gtsi that I am replacing the clutch on and do not see any throw out bearing retainer to clutch fork. My bearing collar does not have a chamfer for a spring clip to attach. Am I missing the correct bearing sleeve?
    Thanks

The '81 has a more "sophisticated" setup where there's a spring up at the clutch pedal keeping the T/O brg in contact w the PP spring, so it doesn't need the "gland" you're describing or that clip. The older cars have the clip which pulls the T/O brg off of the clutch spring by ~2mm.

BTW: I'd consider replacing that T/O brg carrier in the picture. Not super expensive, and looks fairly worn. Could be ok, but might produce some undesirable effects. Clicking / notchy etc. (imho).

@paul01, that bearing carrier is toast and should be replaced.

@yelcab Both sides same depth. No replacement needed. Clutch adjustment is inside 40-45mm. You can replace it.
