    Hi all,

I'm in the process of buying a 360.

I noticed in its service history the throwout bearing / release bearing failed 6 months ago. The garage simply replaced this and no other clutch components as wear was at just 18%.

I'm concerned the clutch may have been damaged during this although it was repaired at a reputable specialist who is now selling the car.

    Thoughts?

Depending on how it failed - if fluid got on clutch plates then the clutch should have been replaced but otherwise it would have been a customer call
I don't think anything wrong with leaving in as long as intact ( no fluid on it etc)

My F1 F430 has the same work done years ago, throwout bearing replaced with gearbox mounts (only). It has some 10k miles since with no ill effects...

if the clutch was good and was only noisy and didn't explode like mine, then no big deal. If the flywheel got scored from an exploding release bearing, then the flywheel needed to be refinished or replaced and the clutch should have been addressed at the same time.

My bearing was changed after oil/ grease noted in the casing, none of it was on the clutch as it all went in the opposite direction.

That is a real shame, was it an original type release bearing and what release bearing did you replace it with?

It was the original with about 15k miles on it. It was replaced with a Hill Engineering one. As I understand it, the Ferrari release bearings can be an issue and unless the dealer is doing the work where they aren't allowed to use Hill Engineering, you should always upgrade the bearing.

NB, the hill bearing for the manual and F1 are different pt no. Be sure you get the right one. Be sure to renew the 5 cent roll pin as well
