I know that here in MA, 3 tickets in 12 months is a suspended license, however what if you get one in MA, one in NH, and one in ME? do the registries cooperate? this is super important if anyone has any info on this. Also, if you don't live in ME, for example, and dont pay a $300 ticket, what happens? I doubt they are going to cross state lines to bag you right? you can't have your license suspended if its out of their jurisdiction where you were given your license right? plz help!

They issue warrants to those outside of jurisdiction to those that don't make good. Warrants cross state lines. The next time you get nabbed for say, jay walking they run your name and the cuffs go on.

Failure to Appear will be the charges.

And the outstanding warrant will show on any law enforcement TDL check, IIRC.

You might want to call the Court Clerk and plead, uh, whatever..and ask where to send the money before this goes WAAY out of hand.

If you receive a ticket in another state, and don't pay it, your state will suspend your license due to the violators compact

even if it gets paid, my question is, if MA law says 3 in 12 months equals suspension...what about in diff states? Im worried about a friend losing his license (OK! ITS MY MOM!) she got tickets in MA, ME, and NH, one a piece, and will pay, (i wouldnt just to be a good citizen, thats why i asked;)) but still, if she does, does she lose her license?

if they are still open/pending, plead nolo-contendre (no contest) and inquire about defensive driving for all three of them. being in different states it is very least likely that their systems are integrated enough to figure out what you are doing. eh.. wait, did I suggest that? yes, I did. I've done it before in various counties. I won't comment on that any further, but that is my suggestion.

The Non-Resident Violator Compact requires member states to suspend
the drivers license of those who get traffic tickets for moving violations in other states and fail to pay them. This means that not paying the tickets will result in higher fines and the possibility of arrest. Ask your Mom how she likes beans and potato salad.

Once she is found guilty the ticket will be reported back to Mass and treated just like it was received in Mass. Note that Mass calculates the one year period from the time of conviction rather than when the ticket was received.
If her court dates are not past she has various options to delay and spread out the convictions so they do not fall within the one year mark.

You need to check out the drivers manual about habitual offenders. In addition she will soon not be able to afford auto insurance so it won't make any difference.

maybe I have made myself unclear, she has every intention of paying her tickets, she just doesnt want to find out that after doing so, she loses her license bc she got 3 within 12 months, esp considering they were in 3 diff states.
