Started hearing a ticking noise from inside the dashboard. Cant pinpoint exactly where. No CEL light. It starts as soon as the key goes to on position and does not go away until the car is shut off. Not sure if the sound has always been and never noticed until now. Anyone ever had this issue?

Is your ac fan motor running? could be that or could be a relay going wonky

Normally it is a flap motor going or not getting the proper voltage or needing to be reset (battery disconnect and reconnect)

I tried removing and installing the ac fuse, a member recommended but didn’t work. When I disconnected the connector from the valve, another part started making a humming noise so I reconnected. What does this part do? What’s causing the ticking? Heat and ac works. Is the part bad? Long term if I don’t replace, will it affect anything else?

That recirculates hot water into the ac/heatng system while the thermostat may be closed etc

It controls on/off and circulates the coolant ..like a mini water pump for the HVAC unit

I don't think the TGK valve does any pumping, Dominick. The valve just regulates the flow. There is a pump elsewhere for circulating the water.

Where is this other part? Do you mean another part on the TGK valve?

I'm not sure what effect disconnecting the TGK valve electrical plug will have on the valve. It may freeze it in the last position or perhaps the valve has springs which close it with loss of power? I believe that if the HVAC system commands the TGK valve to close completely, the pump will also stop, but if the valve does close by disconnecting the plug, this may be putting strain on the pump (or other components). Pure guesswork, though. I don't know where your second humming sound is coming from. Only you know that.

You are absolutely correct.. not sure why i was thinking it was a combination unit ..

Usually people hear pump running and that has generated a few posts

It’s possible the humming is always there, just couldn’t hear it because of the ticking noise

Does anybody have the procedure for replacing the TGK valve? I'd like to add it to my document to make it more comprehensive.

There’s two ways depending on the tools. The proper way:
    : from frunk carpet liner
    : remove cover
: remove hoses, clamp off so you don’t have to drain coolant
    : disconnect plug
    : remove bracket screws

    install in reverse order

Not sure what the carpet liner has to do with it. Also, have you done this? It seems there sould be more to it, because space is tight under that metal cover.

There is a big cover behind the carpet liner, same access to replace brake cylinder

Do you have the Workshop Manual? There are varying procedures in there (depending on RHD/LHD and vehicle assembly number). It seems to involve removing the windshield wipers and the aircon refill nozzles bracket (in some cases).

What's your car's assembly number? Up to 38032... or 38033 and beyond?

No, beginning of thread I mentioned more than one way. The third way, I did not mention, just remove the top access cover(3 screws) can be done, just tight.
If you removed the wiper cover, of course more room to work in, it’s time consuming putting it back in if your doing it by yourself

I don't have a workshop manual, and I suspect 95% of owners do not. Even the digital versions are still hundreds of dollars (USD) and are difficult to read without being printed. That said, I'm not sure what the "assembly number" is.

I'm not sure what you mean by difficult to read. You don't have a desktop computer with a large screen?

I assume the assembly number is in your car's documents, but there is a plate somewhere in the engine bay which shows this number

Sorry to revive this old thread; I have the ticking sound under the dash somewhere, it clicks about once every 2 seconds continuously when I put ignition on and engine not started ... I was looking at some error codes and realized it keeps ticking lately. I also hear it sometimes when driving now. Is it this TGK valve, is that the consensus?

Might try to get under dash and see if I can disconnect the plug and see if clicking stops.

    Thanks
