I do have a very nice car cover. Can't remember the brand. Will post later when I go out and cover her up... JIM
I tried like h*ll for the first couple years to get out of here, but now I wouldn't move for anything. We absolutely LOVE our neighborhood!! We'll be here until our 5 and 7 year olds graduate. Then we'll move to a golf course or something. We're right behind the elementary school and only a few blocks from high school. 11 girls and 3 boys in the cul-de-sac and neighbors that love to party keep us here!!! I'm not complaining anymore about tight garage space, however...not after what I've seen!! JIM

The difficulty with 4 post lifts is overall ceiling height. If you have 12 feet then the issue becomes door retraction once the lift is installed. The solution becomes finding an experienced garage door specialist. I raised the door tracks to the ceiling (most tracks are hung as low as possible from the ceiling), adding an extension to the door tracks and finally adding a door section to the garage door itself. I have a backyard buddy which works great. If you need any oics, let me know. Marc
A backyard buddy is the name brand for a well constructed four post lift. I have used one for about two years with no problems. Cost me about $3,800 two years ago delivered and installed. I have a 72 vette on top and a 91 1le camaro underneath. Marc
My garage is made out of stone, so there is no way to move a wall. At the doorway, my right side mirror has about 3 inches of clearence and the left side, about 6 inches. If I have a passenger in the car, I have to let them out before we go into the garage. Also, when I pull into the garage, I have to pull the car up to a certain point where the car door lines up with the door into the house. If I didn't do this, I would not be able to open the car door. My garage is more like a car glove. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I`ve been thinking about this for a couple of weeks. I have a over sized 2 car garage. It contains my 328, a e36 m3, work bench, 2 motorcycles, a snow blower, lawn tractor, ladders, tools and things. My daily drivers stay in the driveway. I sold one of the motorcycles tonight, and the other one is going ASAP. If I buy a shed for the work bench, tractor, and snow blower I`ll have enough room for 3 cars. The 3rd car being a 348. I`m hooked on Ferrari now ( do they have group therapy for that? ). I guess there are worse additions. BTW my wife does`nt know what my plan is yet. This should be interesting.
Curious about the four post lift pictured here. What company, approximate costs for such an item. I've got 10 foot ceilings and have been thinking about getting one of these. Jeff
dont feel bad, I didnt tell my wife about the 1st ferrari for about 3years, now I have 3 and she only knows about the 2 first ones. it takes time
Jeff The name is Backyard Buddy - they advertise in Hemmings, etc. Total cost 2 years ago was $3,800 installed - I paid my contractor to install Backyard Buddy website has formula for determining heights, etc Marc
Same experience. My 2BR condo had an oversized "one car" garage -- a one car entry, but room for three cars and a low-rise pad lift. (Plus I stored a spare washer, dryer, and microwave in there.) It did have a separate storage room for the off-season rims and tires. I'm now in a 3BR house with barely room for two cars and the lift in the garage. And most people in the area are walling off their garages into an additional room, and leaving the cars parked on the (narrow) streets. No wonder my insurance costs so much. But then, most people around here drive SUVs that would have trouble fitting into these garages anyway. (I even had trouble getting a garage door opener under the low ceilings.)
