    I am in a serious jamb and up against the wall time wise. Can I lay new ceramic tile right over the top of existing glazed tile? This is not on a floor area, but is on a light use counter top. Should I use a thin set cement or maybe glue the new tile on with silicone or maybe liquid nails? I will be setting 18 X 18 tiles over 2 X 2 existing tile.

    sure. use a mastic glue.butter the tiles and set them. how thick are the big tiles? 1/8''? they should be rigid enough. you're not walking on it. what do you plan on doing about the counter's edge?

    Tiles are 5/16 thick, and 18" X 18".
